While the Wii-U hasn’t yet launched locally (it arrives this Friday) it has already been out for a week in America and so we can take a quick look at its first weeks sales compared to previous consoles to give us some indication of how it is doing.

First Week Console Sales

  • Nintendo Wii-U (2012) – 400 000
  • Nintendo Wii (2006)  – 400 000 – 96 Million lifetime sales
  • Sony PS3 (2006) – 150 000 – 70 Million lifetime sales
  • Xbox 360 (2005) – 400 000 – 70 Million lifetime sales
  • Nintendo Gamecube (2001) – 500 000 – 21.7 Million lifetime sales
  • Playstation 2 (2000) – 1 000 000 – 154 Million lifetime sales
  • Xbox (2001) – ? – 24 Million lifetime sales
  • Sega Dreamcast (1998) – 372 000 – 10.6 Million lifetime sales
