Heroes Of The Storm will keep adding characters until they ‘get sick of it’

Blizzard’s Heroes of the Storm MOBA is pretty much fan fiction made real. You’ve got heroes and villains from all across the Blizzard Universe, joining forces to hit one another really hard. Or something with towers and map defense. I’m not really that big on the MOBA scene, but the game still sounds kinda cool, and having the chance to ride a pony into battle as a prime evil will always be a great draw for me. Right now, Heroes Of The Storm has 33 characters available. And Blizzard isn’t ready to stop adding new units anytime soon.

Speaking with PC Gamer,  game director Dustin Browder revealed that six other heroes were currently being internally tested for the game, but that there was “no secret number” of heroes ready for the title, or a “number that determines” when Heroes Of The Storm will even launch. “We’re just going to keep adding heroes forever until we get sick of it and stop at this point. I’ve [been] asked many many times “how many heroes do you need to launch?”. Unfortunately, I would launch today with the number of heroes we have,” Browder said. “I’m good. The heroes are cool. We’re ready to go.”

As for maps, Browder explained that the “rate of growth on maps is not gonna slow or stop until we say so.”

We’re adding them as frequently as we can, and we’re going to keep adding them as frequently as we can, even after launch. What you’re seeing now is not a burst of speed prior to launch. This is the pace that we’re hoping to continue developing at going forward. We’re gonna add game modes, we’re gonna add new heroes, we’re gonna add new battlegrounds.

Our goal for this game is to communicate with our audience to the best of our ability that you haven’t seen anything yet. We don’t want this game to become stale. We do not want this game to become repetitive. We want this game to constantly evolve.

Right now, Heroes Of The Storm is in a closed beta, with no actual release date to be 100% confirmed yet. In other words, Heroes Of The Storm will be done when it’s done. Which is hopefully after they add Deckard Cain to the main roster, so that I can get debuff opposing players by forcing them to stay awhile and listen to me ramble.

I’m enjoying HotS so much. Mat got me hooked on MOBA’s now. Vain glory on my ipad and this on my work laptop. Just need to finish up with the LG tournament then I can get back to some game time.

AFAIK PC only. I don’t see these kind of games working well on console. But that’s just me, FPS and Strat needs to stay with PC.

MOBA I think should stay PC. Although as I said Vain glory works quite well on the iPad. As for FPS, personally I prefer it on the console.

Remastered race only. Don’t think it would work well on console. Although they did a nice job with Diablo 3 so you never know

Deckard Cain needs to be a map master (narrator), not a hero, he will not work as a hero.

There are quite a few extra heroes they can add. From WoW and Diablo alone they could add enough to rival that of DOTA and LoL

I believe that is the plan, eventually, but they are still in closed beta, and there is a lot that still needs to be worked on. They’ll be adding heroes in slowly for now. May pick up the pace a bit after release

If they do eventually put Deckard Cain into the game, his ult must be some kind of mass aoe stunsleep with him saying ‘Stay a while and listen’

Sure they can add a million heroes. Sure they can make many maps. I’ll have another look when it’s out of beta but it just doesn’t stand up to the depth of a Dota. (Where’s Matt when you need him?)
