Here’s what $40 gets you in the Batman: Arkham Knight season pass

Batman-AK

Season passes. To me, they’re essentially promises of good things to come. Promises which require a ton of good faith from fans, in order to succeed. Sometimes, they’re actually worthwhile and they do add to a game. Other times, they’re perfect examples of buyer’s remorse. Batman: Arkham Knight launches with one of the most chuffing expensive season passes of all time, so here’s a look at what your cash gets you in the form of extra content.

Batgirl

Story DLC seems to be the flavour of this season pass, with players able to tackle new missions as Batman and his various allies, including Barbara Gordon AKA Batgirl. The content will roll out over six months, and according to Warner Bros Interactive includes:

  • Batgirl: A Matter of Family – An all new prequel story expansion in an entirely new location where you play as Batgirl for the very first time in the Arkham series – check out the first render of Batgirl.
  • The Season of Infamy – Play as Batman in all new story missions featuring legendary super-villains invading Gotham City, with new story arcs, missions and gameplay features.
  • Gotham City Stories – Play as Batman’s key allies in narrative missions extending their storylines, from both before and after the events in Batman: Arkham Knight.
  • Legendary Batmobiles with Themed Tracks – Drive the most iconic Batmobiles from Batman’s 75-year history, on custom-built race tracks, each themed to that Batmobile’s specific era. Every Batmobile will be drivable across every race track.
  • Crimefighter Challenge Maps – Engage in a series of new challenge maps utilizing the unique play styles of Batman and his allies.
  • Character Skins – A variety of skins from across the eras for Batman, Robin, Nightwing and Catwoman.

“As we fully ramp up development on the Season Pass, we will be sharing even more details on each monthly content drop”, WB said in the original post. I’m not fully against season passes. Whether you have to have the content immediately or you can wait for a special/Game Of The Year edition, is up to you. But it is nice when a developer realises that they should actually let players know exactly what they’re dropping so much cash on in the first place.

  1. Mainstream gaming is so boring. Batgirl? PREDICTABLE! Why not the Chronicles of Alfred? Insight into the life of a butler. Butler sim, that would warrant a season pass purchase.

batman games dont need the DLC.
            theyr wastefull gimmicks.
theyr considered a means to increase the price tag, not add additional content.

cant blame CoD for their high prices. overpriced DLC is the trend right now.

Batman isn’t a day one purchase anymore , I will see how I feel when the witcher is done and by then more then batman could be available.
The fact that their is some story held back , is pushing me to skip it on release well for 40$ anyway.

40$ worth of good faith is totally unwarranted for this series.
its not like the arkham city or arkham origins DLC was all that good.

    hats and 2 story DLCs?

I didn’t play the AC story DLC, but Cold, Cold Heart from AO was not very good as a stand-alone mission. If it had been integrated into the main game it would’ve been cool. But the city felt dead compared to the main game & it was utterly linear.

$40 right? so for two thirds of the price of the original game, we get DLC content that’ll roll out over 6 months… How, just How does anyone justify this? I’d then expect at least two thirds of the games’ gameplay to be added… This whole DLC thing is BS, I mean really, you could just charge $100 from scratch and give me something that is complete…AAARRGGGHHHHH!!! This makes me Angry! Coffee, I need it…

got in early and bagged a preorder for R450. price has already risen to R540 now.
so thats 100% of the original game.
for hats and some story DLC.
story DLC has never quite been the batman games strong point.

        screw that.
remove the seasons pass, add “a matter of family” as regular DLC and get rid of the rest.
the “season of infamy” is the same as that blackgate DLC from origins, which was trash.
“Gotham city stories” should be included in the vanilla game.
