Those who’ve moved on from this physical media nonsense and who’ve got bandwidth to burn can, as of this weekend, pre-load the digital version of GTA V on the PlayStation 4. Unfortunately, as many noticed, there seems to be a few problems with the pre-load.
A handful of players on both NeoGAF and reddit have reported having issues with the preload, with many of them facing CE-37700-7 or CE-36249-4 errors instead of a functional download. While neither Sony or Rockstar have a comment on the problem or a fix for the issue, some have been able to get past it all by doing the following, incredibly logical thing; forcing it to download.
- Go to your game Library on your PS4.
- Select Grand Theft Auto V
- Click on the download button.
The game is set to launch tomorrow, so if you’re suffering from this pre-load problem, it’s unlikely that you’ll finish the 50GB download soon anyway. This is one of those situations where I’d be very much in favour of a physical copy – especially given that there’s another 1GB day one patch for you to download before you can play it the way it’s meant t be played. Like most games on the local PSN, it’s available digitally for more than the retail versions. R899 will get you the digital version of the game in about a week when it finishes download, or you can pick it up from a retailer like Takealot, AWX or Kalahari for less.
It’s out tomorrow, competing with Far Cry 4 for shelf space and gamers’ hearts. Which will you be getting?

I will laugh my ass off if there’s a day one patch for PC when that eventually releases.

To patch in Ultra-HD and unlock the frame rate to beyond 60fps?

Even then. It’s the last version being released, shouldn’t need a patch.

Shouldn’t. But will. This is 2014.

But it will be 2015, so we can expect a day 2 patch as well

Well it’s either that or paid-for day 1 patches.
Either way, the trajectory isn’t great. :/

Probably will be. Then you can sit back and laugh about it while playing W3.

I honestly won’t be surprised if that has a patch too. It’s no contest between them though – W3 all the way.

Agreed. These days anything Rockstar puts me off anyway. They did after-all deny the pc folk GTA V and now they’re planning on selling us a year-old game for the same price as a new game. No thanks.

I’m now using my free night owl data for these day one patches. My purchases of games with day one patches is dependent on how much night owl data I have left for the month.

I got blown up along with two trucks on Sniper Elite yesterday but instead of game over the game crash. May have used too much dynamite.

With games being 50g and bigger I still wonder why they didn’t put bigger HDD into PS4.

Ive yet to run out of HDD space. Some dark magic and unicorn DNA must be loaded in the console 😛

So does anybody know if cars and garages transfer over from the old system? Or is Rockstar going to rip us off yet again?
