GTA V coming to new consoles and PC in June?

GTAV

We’ve been wondering when Rockstar would officially announce that it was bringing Grand Theft Auto’s V’s tale of three criminal idiots to the PC. We’ve also suspected that the game would end up gracing the newer consoles from Microsoft and Sony as well. It makes sense that Rockstar would opt to not announce such a thing, to save from cannibalising sales of the game at the turn of the generation. One random retailer seems to have let slip a release date.

A Czech game retailer ( SuperGamer via neoGAF) has versions of the open-world satire of American excess for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC  for release in the middle of June this year. It lists the 13th, which would tie in quite nicely with European Friday release dates , and could perhaps signal a US release date of 11 June.

Is it real? Well, there’s one thing that’s casting a giant shadow of doubt over the whole thing. Take a look at the supposed PC cover art. It quite plainly says “Games for Windows Live,” a silly system that even Microsoft’s stopped worrying about. I very much doubt Rockstar would implement GFWL.

It could, of course, just be a retailer mistake (or wishfulness) but retailers have been known to let the cat out of the bag before. June would also be a great time to release, as there’s usually a bit of a gaming lull at the time.

Would you double-dip if GTA V did grace the new systems? As much as I enjoyed the game, I just don’t see my playing it again (There are only so many times you can heard the “n-word” and I’ve used up my quota for the next 3 lifetimes)  …though if it was 1080p at 60fps, I might consider at least giving it a look.

GTAV on PC, if it comes, would likely use that pathetic Rockstar Social Club crap – which is just another pointless waste of time. It’s their version of Uplay.

Yeah it’s even required on console….. oh wait 😛
But seriously, Steam, Origin, Uplay, etc. Is all this really necessary on ones PC???

See I bought the C&C ultimate collection but I need to have Origin installed for it.

Actually, Origin is getting better. I am impressed with EA, Origin is not as good as Steam but it is not bad.

Agreed but my point is that it feels so unnecessary. All the extra stuff running in the background.

I wish everyone will just go with steam but I also heard rumours that it is not all sunshine and happy days with Steam as a developer.

All these different game clients are annoying but I am actually over complaining about it

Depends what you want to play. New EA titles aren’t released on Steam, only Origin – so if you want one of those you need Origin. Most Ubisoft games automatically start Uplay when you run them from Steam, and you can’t play the game if you can’t connect to Uplay. Not sure about Origin needing to be connected, but Steam’s offline play actually works now. If you don’t want Steam, which I think is a touch silly given how useful it is, there’s always gog.

Yeah I got all three but I prefer GOG at he end of the day.

Yes I like the no-DRM & what I buy is what I keep. But I can’t play new games there :/

Actually, I am not sure if they fixed it but I could run DA2 without having Origin open, same with SWTOR.

hmm I will try Mass Effect 3, check if it is needed.

BF4 ran without Origin because you are actually running the game from the Battle thingy webpage…

ME3 required Origin. That’s the only reason I installed it.

You can use Battlelog to launch Battlefield 4, but when you hit play on anything, Origin gets launched.

Yes, it’s called DRM. Like the atomic bomb, once invented you cannot un-invent it and just have to live with it.

i went through the torture when I had to use UKAKPLAY for FC3 and AC4. Is it still illegal to crack the game so that you do not have to use their shit Uplay and just send them the payment via EFT ?

but yeah, another crap portal to play an awesome game….sigh FML

PC version – yes please! The mods (without having to jump through hoops like one has to on consoles at the moment) are enough of a reason alone.

Already traded mine in what after the broken online play and the SP running it’s course. But be sure that if they release a version with all the DLC included on PS4 like they did with GTA IV I will pick it up in a heartbeat.

Honestly? I probably would pick it up again. “I would double-dip like a mo-fo!” It’s just such a phenomenal, all-round game with so many things to do that I was left aghast as the sheer size and volume of it all! Would love an excuse to dive into the SP experience again – this time at PS4 spec awesomeness! 🙂

Dude, my (sexy black) 360 already does 1080p @ 60fps. Since I have an Xbox One, I can confirm that it also does 1080p @ 60fps, and that you are full of shit!

Its not true 1080p on the xbpx 360. Everygame on the 360 is in a lower resolution but it is later upscaled to 1080p (stretched) the ps4 will have native 1080p

if it would do 1080p it would be named xbox1080 BUT ITS CALLED XBOX360 ! why? because it runs only at 360, stretching the frame will not make it 1080, all it gives you is a big pixelfest ,,, dream further Fred.

Maybe you people could find something interesting to write about… Like how online is still broken and is missing many features that were promised before release. Maybe you could write about how the whole concept of shark cards has ruined online. Maybe you could write about how R* is now ignoring its fan base in favor of its Wall Street analysts.

Now this is one “leak” rumor I actually believe. Not that I care about the source’s credibility or what-have-you. June has long been my speculated release date as the average between San Andreas’ & IV’s PC conversion releases. 8 months for SA. 10 for IV. So averaging 9 puts V into June 2014.
