I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again until someone flips the switch on me that happens to be stuck on repeat: it is a good time to be a racing fan. Forza Horizon 2, DriveClub and the upcoming Project CARS have left road warriors spoilt for choice. But you can bet that there’s a community out there that can’t wait for Gran Turismo to return. Eventually.
Originally rumbled for a 2014 release, it seems like Gran Turismo is pulling a series trick and postponing the game until 2015. Or 2016. Speaking to GamesTM magazine in an interview, studio head Kazunori Yamauchi spoke about the transition from PlayStation 3 to PlayStation 4. “Everything will be running naturally,” Yamauchi said about the PS4.
PS3 was much, much more difficult. The high quality of data that we have being rendered on the PS4 I think is going to make an incredible difference. For GT7, myself and my staff have a clear vision: to do everything we couldn’t do in GT6. We want to make it very Gran Turismo. By that I mean it’s going to be a game that matches the very era that we live in, in 2015 or 2016.
It’s not exactly unusual for Polyphony to take their time on a Gran Turismo game. Yes, it is quite an extension. But in the meantime, there’re plenty of other great racing games to play and master. And by master, I mean that I need to find a way to finish a race in any game that doesn’t result in my car looking an Eastgate Volkswagen Golf with tarnished go-faster stripes and unlucky pedestrian on the side.

It will get here eventually. I just feel sad for the people who actually took a chance and paid for it and still the servers are down…

All racing games has to have split screen.

At least for consoles, but try telling that to the guys who dev’d need for speed and DriveClub.

I’m still trying to understand how games are more social when you force everyone online and straight off kill couch co-op. Diablo 3 supports four players on the same console and the same TV for crying out loud

Yeah, I remember when social gaming was when you had a friend on the couch next to you. Actually interacting with other people who are in the same physical location. Times they are a changing.

They had splitscreen… At the moment there isn’t one racing game with local multiplayer on the ps4.

I’m 100% fine with the Jazz.
Just make the menus coherent and remove the unnecessarily loading times when you hit restart.
Granted I didn’t play GT6 but only GT5, so that might have been fixed.

GT6’s menus were much better. Restart times as well.
In fact they fixed all of the annoying little things.

So good in fact that I contemplated suicide just to make it stop. I burned the disc instead.

It’s amazing how DriveClub is still broken, but no one seems to care. Says a lot about the game.

Yeah, those die hard fanboys over at N4G sure are in denial. The game is incomplete, I understand that the game will get features as the months go by.
But what about Pieter who lives in the bad side of Brakpan who doesnt even have internet? He bought the game thinking its a “Forza killer” then ended up with a PGR clone. Poor Pieter, he’ll never be able to update his DC because they keep on stealing those damn Telkom lines, and 3G is just too darn expensive for updating a game pass the 3GB threshold!!!
/Rant over
The point is our internet infrastructure is pathetic and not available EVERY WHERE. So people who bought the retail game without internet BOUGHT AN INCOMPLETE GAME!

It was highly doubtful it would ever have appeared in 2014 – PD never said so – they said it would be a relatively quicker turnaround, and by their standards 2016 would be quick!
GT5 was good; GT6 was way better.
Agree Darryn – right now its great to be a racing fan – FM5, FH2, Driveclub, The Crew, Project Cars, F1 2014 (older gen); etc.

Disagree with you. GT4 was good, GT5 was ok and GT 6 was a fucking waste of time. They have got progressively worse over time. All GT 6 had was better graphics. It has fewer cars, fewer tracks and fewer events than GT5 and GT5 has way less events than GT4 had.

I agree 100% on GT4 being best ever. But we will have to agree to disagree…6>5.

October 14, 2014 at 11:41
LOL. OK, you can have this one. They were pretty close, just GT6 had better graphics and the cars did look better. I was disappointed with it in that I had completed all the events in 3 days, give or take an hour. You could not do this with GT5 nor GT4. I will wait and see and inwardly “hope” that they do a better job with GT7. Hopefully the driveclub servers will be working before GT7 comes out or I go on pension

Knowing Yamauchi standards, I would not be surprised if the game is 4k 60fps considering he was aiming for 1080p 60fps 5 years ago.

Is it bad that GT7 is literally the only reason I’m gonna buy the PS4? So I’ll be paying R6/7k for one game… Oh but then I’ll get GT8 at the end of the PS4 lifecycle. #value!

Nah not my style. I will have my racing seat and wheel set up along with my projector 🙂 I played so much Forza 4 split-screen this way (except with shitty xbox controller obviously) and it’s some of the best fun I’ve had gaming.
