Gran Turismo 6 coming sooner than you think?
With Gran Turismo games taking at least 87 and a half years to make (it takes a long time to digitally recreate all those Nissan Skylines), and the last one having been released at the end of 2010, we were expecting Gran Turismo 6 to see general availability sometime around 2050, which incidentally is the year we’ll all run out of fish. According to SCEE senior vice-president Michael Denny we may see it a bit sooner – and on the PlayStation 3.
“Look at the games coming out on the PlayStation 3 like The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls, GT6, and then on the third-party side of things another fantastic Assassin’s Creed, GTA,” Denny said, revealing something to Silicon Republic he probably wasn’t supposed to. “It’s important for our content to have that kind of longevity because, as I was saying [about the PS Vita], the games that come through are going to get better and better over time.”
Sony and Polyphony Digital are probably looking to capitalise on the PS3’s rather large install base – but it doesn’t preclude an actual PlayStation 4 version of the game.
So there you have it. Gran Turismo 6 is still coming to the PlayStation 3 – and with the PS4 launching later this year, it could even be headed our way in the coming months. Of course, it’ll probably be a paid-for-demo prologue version and the real game will only be out years later. With the real, real version of the game a year later than that. and the real, real version of the game with all its DLC just a few months later.
