Godzilla takes on Mothra in this new look at the game

Look, I don’t ask for much in life, outside of finally winning the f***ing lottery for once. But a game starring the king of all kaiju, battling it out with some atomic flame-breath destruction and the chance to play as those various rivals as well? I’m freakin’ sold man. Completely and absolutely. GODZILLA ONOMATOPEIAH TIME! SKREEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNK!

Seriously, you can drop an urban renewal project with one footstep, according to this new footage for Godzilla:

The game will be out in Early July on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, with Natsume currently developing it. Destructoid has a nice write-up on the control scheme of the game, where they describe it as making use of the left analogue stick to either move forwards or backwards, and the right analogue stick to move the camera around you. From there, players can use the left or right bumper triggers to turn their favourite kaiju king.

It makes Godzilla a slow, unwieldy and heavy beast to pilot according to those reactions. Or in other words, it gives players a proper sense of what it feels like to move an actual monster that’s bigger than the eyes of your mother-in-law come the Christmas day buffet, through a heavily populated and dense metropolitan area. Wicked.

Players will also be able to step into the skin of other infamous kaiju, such as Mothra, Mechagodzilla, Destroyah, Jet Jaguar, Gigan, Biollante and Hedorah. Hell, even Space Godzilla will land in the game, albeit with the caveat of a pre-order exclusive. The PS4 version will also include more monsters, an exclusive multiplayer mode and the chance to battle in a handicap match when you’re outnumbered two to one.

Although if the game allows me to do this, I’ll be more than happy to rate it 11/10:

SKREEEOOONK.

Well, doesn’t look spectacular, but unlike the latest movie we actually get to see Godzilla for more than three seconds on screen.

Still kind of liked the movie, but I still think Bryan Cranston should’ve played one of the monsters.
