GamersXtreme wants to bring eSports to Tuks

GamersXtreme has launched an initiative to establish a Gaming Club/Community at the University of Pretoria that takes eSports seriously.

With the backing of the MSSA and your support they are aiming to make this a reality. For Tuks to support the initiative, they will need a big enough support base and is asking the community to do so by supporting their Facebook page. The initiative is the brainchild of Estian Jaco Hough a third year student at Tuks and Christo Naude who has finished a ComTIA, A+ N+ certificate, and currently studying his CCNA as well as MCCTPI diploma.

Naude says that while they both have their “ups and downs regarding experience and hosting skills”, they seem to be the best of them on most fronts. He also admitted that they are still new to the scene and learning more day to day.

From what I’ve seen so far (an image :D), titles that they are interested include: StarCraft 2, Call of Duty, League of Legends, Battlefield 3, Counter-Strike and Dota 2. The initiative has ample potential to become a success and help our local gaming community/scene. It could get new players involved or educated and provide a platform for students already into eSports. We’ll be publishing an interview with these guys soon, so keep an eye out!

In the mean time, let’s help kick this thing off at the GamersXtreme page.
