If you played PC games in the 1990s, chances are that you at least sampled a few titles in the point ‘n click genre. And one of the top such clicker games back then that would leave you scratching your head would be Gabriel Knight. And 20 years after the first game arrived, comes news that a remake of the classic Sins of the father is on the way.
Planned as a mid-2014 digital download, Gabriel Knight: Sins of the father is getting rebuilt from scratch, and will boast sharper visuals and audio. “I’m thrilled to be back at work on Gabriel Knight and to bring this classic game to a new generation of players,” said series creator Jane Jensen to VG247.
It’s a designer’s dream to be able to enhance the game and bring in more New Orleans flavor than technical limitations allowed us to in 1993. It’s going to look and feel like a brand new title.
But never fear, 100% of the original Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers is here. I hope both existing fans and new players will love it.
Jensen’s studio, Pinkerton Road, has been working on the game for over a year now, and say that it will also have a re-mastered soundtrack from original game maestro Robert Holmes. I’m kind of amped for this. I loved the original games, and this is the kind of remake that I dig seeing.

I know right… I am NOT going to be able to resist googling a walkthrough though =/
Wasn’t an option back in the day!
“Put the sticky tape on the door opening, then spray the cat with the water bottle, cat runs through the door opening, but leaves hair behind on the sticky tape. combine with glue and make a mustache to fool the bike hire guy to get the bike.”
I still have no idea how the hell I figured that out….

I tried playing Hugo’s House of Horrors the other day. Some of those things are just too random to ever guess.

Games have become waaaaay too easy these days.
Last night, jamming some Witcher, just made me realise what I miss in gaming!

That said… I was trying to play Witcher 2 and got to the point where I switched the game to easy… The gap between easy and normal is insane. It felt like I either had to be ripping my hair out or dancing my way through.
Good game, but I think they can maybe find a level between normal and easy and make that normal and then make the normal hard etc etc etc…
I know that people love a challenge, but in the end it would be cool if they took me into account.

I feel ya man, I also had that encounter once, switched to easy (forgot I reloaded game again) and fought the dude (on normal, thinking it was easy), and somehow tricked my brain into succeeding on normal!
Felt like a noob firstly, and when I realised what I accomplished on Normal, felt kinda good!

They really should remake, the original alone in the dark!

Wish they could remake some of the other classics as well like:
Quest for Glory(A Skyrim or Oblivion mod for this would be kinda cool)
Kings Quest
Space Quest
Police Quest
Leisure Suit Larry
Alien Emperor Trevor

Are they still developing that? They didn’t get even close to their Kickstarter goal.
