ESRB Rating reveals new playable character for RE Revelations 2

I am excited for Resident Evil Revelations 2. The first was rather good, taking the series back to the good old days… you know, when survival horror was about surviving, not simply shooting the heck out of everything that moved. Knowing Capcom though, this sequel could be all sorts of NOPE, but for all the wrong reasons. We’ve known for a while now that Claire Redfield will be playable along with Moira Burton. The game’s ESRB rating has been released, and it looks like Moira’s father, Barry Burton, could be playable too.

The description paints out the expected gore and blood, but also contains another interesting titbit of information (via DualShockers).

His is an action-adventure game in which players assume the roles of an imprisoned woman and a father searching for his daughter on an island. Players use pistols, machine guns, rocket launchers, shotguns, and knives to kill zombies and mutated creatures. Combat is highlighted by screams of pain, realistic gunfire, and large blood-splatter effects. A handful of enemies are depicted with exposed organs, and one scene depicts an enemy having its hand cut off in slow-motion. Another scene depicts a human character shooting herself in the head with a pistol, resulting in a large splatter of blood. The words “f**k” and “sh*t” appear in the dialogue.

Other than the fact that the game has a potty mouth, the description also points out that there is a father searching for his daughter. The obvious assumption would be that it is Barry, the guy everybody remembers most for his Jill sandwich line.

He hasn’t been seen since way back in Resident Evil 3 where he saved Carlos and Jill from the destruction of Racoon City. I am at least 200% certain that he is the mystery playable character. Who else could it be anyways? I really hope Capcom use this opportunity to make as many sandwich jokes as possible.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 will be out in 2015 sometime. Does the possible inclusion of Barry excite you? Rumour has it that herbs and first aid sprays will be replaced by sandwiches which replenish health*.
