Just under a month ago, I told you that Energy eSports are headed to the Electronic Sports World Cup to play Counter-Strike Global Offensive. They will not only gain invaluable experience, but also stand a chance to walk away with a (hopefully large) slice of the $50 000 prize pool. ASUS have just come on board, and will be sponsoring the team some top gaming laptops that will allow them to practice in Paris before the tournament starts.
Miles Regenass, the Marketing Manager for ASUS South Africa, is looking forward to the partnership and what will come of it:
“This is a great opportunity for Energy to play against the best and in turn, bring back and share the knowledge they attain at the event. We look forward to a long relationship with this professionally managed team and welcome them to the ASUS Republic Of Gamers. Our hope is that they not only achieve good results but help put South Africa on map for international eSports. We wish the team safe travels and good games at the event.“
Energy eSports are also chuffed to be teaming up with ASUS. Kasim Ahmad, their director, had the following to say:
“As a global leader in gaming components and notebooks, ASUS has worked closely with gamers across all regions. We are excited that they have selected Energy eSports to represent ROG South Africa during our ESWC venture and look forward to a formidable partnership going forward.”
I hope that this partnership yields spectacular results not only from the ESWC, but also any other events or tournaments moving forward.
Energy seem to have a tough group ahead of them (via their Facebook Page). I see there is a Portuguese team. They shouldn’t be too much of a threat. From experience, I can confirm that we excel at planting vegetables, not bombs. We’re also only really good at shooting sauce onto our Prego rolls, not people. As for the rest of the teams in the group, I think most are quite tough. Energy are going to have to play some great Counter-Strike.
The Electronic Sports World Cup will kick off on the 29th of October in Paris, France. We are happy that South Africa will be represented, and we wish Energy eSports nothing but the best!

I don’t think starting Matha as a mage in LG was fair. Not with a toughness of 1…

But that puts him on -1! MEDIC! REVIVE HIM!
I don’t want him dead, I want him crushed & broken so I can remold him in my image and I hope I didn’t say that out loud.

Maybe there’s a new category on the weekly article for Most Innuendo in a Single Article. I don’t want to speculate on the prize.

Are Energy eSports a member of the MSSA and allowed to use the SA flag next to their name in the roster?

Yip unfortunately they are. MSSA control SA eSports and doing a piss poor job of it. They should stick to board games and let eSports become independent and run itself
