If there’s one thing that I can attest to, it’s that a lady can P-klap a guy just as hard as any bruiser who eats that muscle-building powder crap for breakfast. MMA has taken off in the last two decades as a popular sport, and its one that has attracted some serious talent from all genders. And in a big first, EA is going to include those female fighters as well in the upcoming UFC game.
In a press release via AGB, EA Sports confirmed that UFC Bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey and top contenders such as Miesha Tate would be helping to headline the game.
Here’s the full press release, copied and pasted word for word:
Electronic Arts today announced that EA Sports UFC will feature playable female fighters for the first time ever in a UFC videogame. This groundbreaking moment is headlined by UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and top bantamweight contender Miesha Tate, the historic inaugural female coaches on the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter.
Starting next Spring, players will "Feel the Fight" in the Octagon™ and experience the crippling power of Rousey’s signature armbar, the ferocious intensity of Tate’s grappling, and many other fighting styles from an esteemed roster of female fighters in EA SPORTS UFC.
"This is a great moment for videogames and for Mixed Martial Arts," said Dean Richards, General Manager, EA SPORTS UFC. "In our commitment to delivering the most realistic fighting experience ever achieved, we wanted to represent the full spectrum of talent and diversity of all the fighters in the sport, including women who have become an undeniable force to be reckoned with."
"Since we added the Women’s Bantamweight division earlier this year, the women have impressed everyone," said Dana White, UFC President. "The fights are always exciting, Ronda Rousey is as talented as any champion in the UFC and her rivalry with Miesha Tate is one of the most intense in UFC history.
The female division has become a huge part of the UFC and fans will now be able to experience fighting with them in the game."
No word yet on how many of the lethal ladies will be present, or if you can use them to apply leg-locks in mixed divisions and make Bob Sapp cry out in pain. But it’s a great addition to a game that is shaping up pretty nicely so far.

I don’t even want to know where you are picking up chicks dude!
Personally, I have enough common sense to realise that I don’t enjoy getting punched in the face and would make a rather pitiful MMA fighter but there is still a chance that I can win the F1 World Championship once I get my lawnmower upgraded.

Cyborg was actually bust for PED use a year or so back but I also don’t get it. I think some of these women have bigger cajones than I have but then I see Rhonda Rousey and I’m all like, yeah, that’ll work…

I agree completely. Rhonda Rousey is the UFC 135 pound champion and was an Olympic Bronze medalist in Judo for USA and she’s real easy on the eye.

Makes no difference to me as I always create my own fighter and the men’s divisions are way deeper than the women.
