Tiger Woods has been the face of EA’s PGA golf game for years now. As arguably the world’s most famous golfer it made sense – but since that little scandal where Tiger got caught with his own wood in all the wrong places, he’s been getting a little less cover space with each iteration of the game. That whole deal has been excised completely.
“EA Sports and Tiger Woods have also made a mutual decision to end our partnership, which includes Tiger’s named PGA Tour golf game. We’ve always been big fans of Tiger and we wish him continued success in all his future endeavors,” said EA sports boss Daryl Holt on the company’s blog.
“Moving forward, we will continue to work with the PGA TOUR exclusively to create groundbreaking golfing titles and our partnership remains strong.”
Of course, that doesn’t mean EA’s golf game is going away; in fact, they’re busy making a next-gen PGA. Here’s a comparison of current and next gen golfing:
Holt said EA intends to “leverage the best technologies across EA to deliver a stunning and immersive game for mobile and next generation consoles”.
