Broken Age

“An adventure game from Tim Schafer, Double Fine, and YOU!” And finally there’s an actual name for the game and a game description. Here’s what we know about Broken Age.

Double Fine unveiled the game we’ve all known only as “Adventure” for over a year now to be Broken Age. The game reached funding just a little over a month after the Kickstarter page was launched, and far surpassed the amount of cash needed to make it a reality. The goal was a mere $400, 000, but with 87, 142 backers it reached a crazy amount of $3, 336, 371.

The story according to the official game website:

Broken Age is a point-and-click adventure telling the stories of a young boy and girl leading parallel lives. The girl has been chosen by her village to be sacrificed to a terrible monster–but she decides to fight back. Meanwhile, a boy on a spaceship is living a solitary life under the care of a motherly computer, but he wants to break free to lead adventures and do good in the world. Adventures ensue.

And good news! Broken Age will be a DRM-free game for PC, Mac and Linux and can already be pre-ordered, for beta access, gamers can pre-order the game for $15 (give or take R140). Those who’d like to follow the game even closer can ore-order at $30 to gain backer access which allows you membership of a super private club of backers where you will be given expensive cigars and exotic women. Well, not really, but something close to that: private backer-only discussion forms, all episodes of 2 Player Productions’ documentary series following the development of the game and many great reassures from the Double Fine team and beta access.

I read recently that all that dough has been burned through! And the development still isn’t finished. So, it’ll be 4 or 5 Mil point n click! XD

Now I long for Broken Sword. And not the Kama Sutra position.
