The latest Dota 2 update adds the hero Abaddon to the game, new Compendium items and support for Mac OS X and Linux.
Now that Dota 2 is actually, really, sort off released, things haven’t really changed at all. It’s business as usual, apart from a speeded up game queue on international servers. Updates are still rolling out as Valve is always improving the game, the latest of which adds some pretty damn awesome stuff.
Abaddon the Lord of Avernus
In this update Abaddon, a melee strength hero is added. Abaddon is most often played as a support hero due to his abilities to heal, shield friendlies, increase party movement speed as well as debuff.
Abilities:
Mist Coil: Abaddon releases a coil of death that can damage an enemy unit or heal a friendly unit at the cost of some of Abaddon’s health.
Aphotic Shield: Summons dark energies around an ally unit, creating a shield that absorbs a set amount of damage before expiring. When the shield is destroyed it will burst and deal damage equal to the amount it absorbed to an area around it. Removes certain types of negative buffs and stuns on cast.
Curse of Avernus: Abaddon strikes an enemy with chilling power on each attack, causing all units who attack the slowed enemy to gain increased movement speed, along with faster attack speed, for a limited time.
Borrowed Time (Ulti): When activated, most negative buffs will be removed and any damage you take will heal instead of damaging you. If the ability is not on cooldown, it will passively activate when your hitpoints drop below a certain threshold.

Compendium
New player cards have been added. Players can also now unlock the Smeevil Crab mount by stamping complete teams. The International Fantasy Challenge has also been added.
Mac OS X and Linux support
The update, as mentioned, adds support for Mac and Linux, check out the requirements.
Mac OS X:
OS X Lion 10.7 4GB RAM, 4GB Hard drive space. nVidia 320M or higher, or Radeon 7000 or higher, or Intel HD 3000 or higher
Linux:
Ubuntu 12.04, dual core from Intel or AMD at 2.8 GHz, 4GB RAM, nVidia GeForce 8600/9600GT, ATI/AMD Radeaon HD2600/3600 (Graphic Drivers: nVidia 310, AMD 12.11), OpenGL 2.1, 4GB Hard Drive Space, OpenAL Compatible Sound Card
Release notes say that Mac and Linux support is still early and experimental and will remain in Dota 2 Test until the testing phase is complete. Players can join this link here for community discussions on the Dev forums.

i hate techies.
as a support player, i fear for the day techies is released.
supports are going to have even less gold for items, having to demine the forests and river…
Carries and solo players blaming the supports when theyr killed by mines.
I can see it being bad enough to convince me to quit playing dota, again.

Nice to see he’s as broken as before. I haven’t played Dota 2 in about 2 months, but I can already picture the level 1 behind tower ganks.

Ok I’ve check the update on my app for dota 2 on my ipad and it says “offline play”. Can somebody else confirm that there is “Offline LAN” play. Cuz if there is then my boredom when I work abroad during the year is solved and the OC LAN which I try to attend 4 times a year is gonna be more awesome.
