Don’t get mad, Get Even in this new game from the developers of Painkiller

Happy birthday you magnificent Nigri-lover

New year, new games. And I freakin’ love it! So far, we’ve seen two brand new games announced, with nary a number next to their title in the form of Alien Isolation and Evolve. Add Get Even to that list, or this massive I wrote last year, and the 2014 and beyond gaming landscape is shaping up pretty nicely so far.

From the studio that brought you Painkiller: Hell & Damnation, Farm 51, comes Get Even. Due out next year, Get Even is a PC game on new-gen systems that aims to blur the lines between single-player and multiplayer.

By playing through the single-player campaign, gamers will encounter enemies who’ll plague them online as well. The rub here comes in the form of players not knowing if that particular enemy is a clever piece of AI coding or an actual person.

In addition to all that, combat is designed to be more intense and less gung-ho, with players able to use features such as smartphone syncing in-game to create better tactical options, such as shooting around corners. Here’s the debut trailer for Get Even:

In a press statement, The Farm 51 CEO Wojtek Pazdur said, “As an independent developer, it would be foolish to go head-to-head with the larger companies and create a ‘me too’ knock-off, and frankly we wouldn’t be interested in doing it.

We believe that there is still a ton of content and design creativity that has yet to be explored in first-person genre, as well as an audience beyond the warfare player – those are the people we are going for with Get Even.

The game also utilises some of that fancy new 3D scanning technology that makes ludicrously realistic environments, which Geoff wrote about a few days ago. Visually, the game could be an impressive and proper showcase of new-gen hardware.

Hopefully, the gameplay will live up to the hype when this game releases in 2015.

This sounds pretty interesting. Especially the Dark Souls-like enemy thingy.

I really enjoyed the original Painkiller, haven’t played any of the others though.
