Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls arrives in March 2014

Have you ever played that one game, that convinced you to get a particular system? I did this year, at BlizzCon. Sitting up in a press lounge, my massive arse swallowed by a leather couch and just jamming Diablo 3 with a random Hungarian convinced me to get a PlayStation 4. And now, the expansion for that RPG finally has a date.

Reaper of Souls lands on PC and Mac next year March 25. It’ll cost ya $40, or around R400, and features a new act, a new class in the form of the Crusader and several other features. The standard edition of the game goes for the price above, while the Digital Deluxe Edition will set you back $60/ R600.

What makes that one so special? Here’s how Blizzard describes it:

You also have the option to prepurchase the Digital Deluxe Edition, which contains a wealth of in-game goodies: a collection of exclusive helm- and weapon-transmogrification recipes to distinguish your hero among the champions of Sanctuary; a loyal Spectral Hound minion to keep your adventurers company on their epic journeys; three additional character slots to accommodate new heroes; an in-game Treasure Goblin companion pet for World of Warcraft; and an assortment of Crusader-themed Battle.net portraits and Malthael-themed decals for StarCraft II.

I had a genuine blast playing the game on console, which is the version that I’m personally waiting for. The controls were rad, the visuals smoother than my chest and the co-op worked. If you’re still not convinced however, you can ready Matty Fig’s preview on the PC build.

It is weird for me that they only add 1 class

Methinks Dia-blow might turn into a crusader wiener festival.

Sounds like when they released the Death Knight on WoW… it was over powered and it ruled all… then they nerfed it so badly that everyone stopped playing with it.

I think the Crusader might be the same… over powered to begin with and then they’ll nerf it until it’s unplayable… much like Dia-blow 3 is on PC

And another thing. I think this class was already planned for the original release of Diablo 3 from the early character reveals years ago. I think they are now again just trying to cash in on work already done, and since they are releasing him on his own they don’t have to worry about balancing issues that much.

My spidey sense tells me there is just a slight bit off here and they are sacrificing the end product in favour of profit again. Could they seriously not think up another class, just bring back the amazon or something

Good point… it’s a little fishy and I would much prefer the Amazon to what’s basically a freaking Paladin.

I just checked the character reveals again… and yep, he’s in there… not in the foreground, but there.

I’ve been looking at this and it seems amazing. The features all look cool and stuff.

But… I don’t know if R400 is a price I’d be willing to pay for this. Maybe R200.

Stoked….As I said, after replaying this game a year later i am totally hooked. Really have done a 180, used to hate this game. But with a better Interweb connection, I am now in love. Bring on Reaper of Souls!
