Those of you who played the Beta for Destiny know just how slick and polished the game already is. It not only plays well, but it also looks and feels very ready. So, how much will it change before launch? Activision says not a lot.
During Activision’s financial conference call for Q2 of fiscal year 2014, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg explained that the Beta had been very successful. The feedback was almost entirely positive and Bungie learned what tweaks are necessary to optimize the game.
But I would describe this as tweaks and not major changes, as we saw the fundamentals of the game to be very strong. And the good news is because we got 4.6 million players into the beta we were able to test the back-end in scale and it performed really well and stably.
We think we’re ready for a great launch with a great partner in Bungie.
Gavin already told you some of the changes he’d like to see before the game is released in September – do you guys think these would count as tweaks or “major changes”? The fundamentals of the game certainly are strong, but would you also like to see the loot system changed, or perhaps the PvP improved? Would you be happier with a bigger, longer version of the Destiny Beta as the final game, or were there more things that you were hoping would be expanded before release?
I’m quite please with the way this Beta went – it’s much nicer when the Beta is closer to the finished product than an Alpha. This should hopefully mean that the game will have a more successful launch with a product that people already know and love.

The Alpha and Beta were pretty much the same thing in my eyes… I could really not see a lot of difference between the 2!! The Titan was a bit less powerful in the Beta than the Alpha but that is really about it…
They can give me the Beta with all the stories and missions of the full game tomorrow and I will be more than happy to pay today!!! Hell I would even pay a little extra to be able to play it tomorrow…

Cannot wait for this game, first game that’s going to give any consoles I’ve had some work. Not being a console gamer much I have to comment that Destiny’s Sky and Ground textures are amazing!

Without expansions opening up new areas it would be a tall ask for a decade of player dedication.

It’s not going to last 10 years. The franchise is. Just like you still have Call of Duty games still coming out.
Also they did not spend 500 million on this game, you seem to be another one who read that completely false writeup about the game.

I’m honestly not huge on the loot system. The individual loot is fine. I would rather have random drops for different classes. This makes the possibility of a auction house more feasible plus it gives you more incentive to run same dungeon over to get the specific piece of armor you were looking for.
