Crysis3

PC gamers, for the most part, hated the hell out of Crysis 2 – and largely for good reason. The first game, originally exclusive to PC when it was released five years ago was a true sandbox title that at the time pushed PC gaming graphics to their breaking point – requiring future technology to to run at its maximum. Crysis 2 was quite a departure – instead offering a mostly linear shooter, and worse, being a pretty direct port from consoles, meaning there was little in the way of graphical superiority on the PC.

With Crysis 3 headed for consoles again, PC pundits are worried that it’ll follow the same path – and will be another graphically underwhelming port. Crytek wants to assure PC gamers that won’t be the case.

“PC players fundamentally want Crysis to only be on PC, right? And, you know, that’s kind of understandable when you consider how the original game – and even Crytek itself – started out,”Crytek’s Senior Creative Director Rasmus Højengaard told SPOnG. “But, we’re definitely pushing this game a lot from a visual standpoint, and for sure there’s going to be visual goodies in it that you can only get if you have a super-high-end PC.

“At the same time, we want to ensure if you don’t have a super-high-end PC, the game will still look amazing. On top of that, we want to make sure the experience is not different from platform to platform.”

For console gamers, wants to assure you that your version won’t look rubbish either.

“A lot of the fancy DX11 stuff that we’ve done for the PC platform has been translated into console versions that looks almost as good. Or at least, we’ve introduced a fidelity that hasn’t been present in any other console game so far.”

I played Crysis 2 on PC – and actually kinda of enjoyed it – though it didn’t hold a candle to the first one. are you looking forward to Crysis 3? I’m in – but mostly because of the mean as all hell-looking bow.
