Could Destiny add swords to players’ inventory?

Despite a mixed reception at launch, millions of you are still playing Bungie’s online shooter, Destiny. The first major content expansion is on the horizon, with the Dark Below aiming to deliver on fan’s requests since launch. That’s probably why Destiny’s greatest weapon has a much bigger role to play this time around.

Despite my lack of love for Destiny I can still recall one or two moments of pure gaming bliss. Unsurprisingly, that includes the one moon mission where you’re granted control of a Hive sword, which leads to some insanely enjoyable monster slicing. It’s incredibly fun, and it seems like Bungie realised that too. That’s why swords are back, and possibly a staple weapon in Th Dark Below.

In a walkthrough for the upcoming expansion, which you can check out here, Bungie details some of the new content Destiny players will receive. This includes more heavily story-focused missions, a new Strike that ties into the narrative and an all-new raid. Previously it was suspected that the Hive sword would return in the Dark Below’s final boss raid, but the gameplay snippets shown suggest otherwise. Guardians were hopping all over the place with the goliath blade, suggesting that it could be a regular weapon now.

Speaking of weapons, The Dark Below is also going to feature a generous handful of new death-dealing gear. That means more exotic weaponry to bolster your arsenal, which goes nicely with some of the near armor that Bungie has thrown in as well. There’re also three new multiplayer maps on their way, if you feel like getting your Guardian codpiece handed to you online like I did nearly every time I played.

Bungie is definitely listening to fans with The Dark Below, and it certainly looks far more interesting than I thought it would. Still, it means having to pay extra to possibly get back into a game I left long ago, but for the millions still hooked this does look like a treat? Will you be taking down the Hive on December 9th?

If they added lightsabers, I’d buy this game.

I won’t. Destiny just didn’t do it for me. Really disappointed with the game.

I used to feel compelled to play every day. Even though the Iron Banner is on at the moment and I can finally (possibly) level cap my Titan I just don’t feel the need to. The expansion is going to have be amazing to keep me invested for more than a month.

I see you’ve been getting stuck into FC4. Enjoying it? I’m really loving my time with it so far – it’s a game I just want more of… Enjoying exploring Kyrat and hunting at the mo.

It really is fun. The guns handle a little bit awkwardly. I’m used to the precision of Destiny

Hahaha. 🙂 I know EXACTLY what you mean… First time I got hold of an AK47 in the game and started firing it, I was like “What the hell?! Why can’t I control it?!” Then suddenly realised this isn’t Destiny and you’re not firing an autorifle (Destiny’s autorifles are so easy to control when you aim down the sights).

Still feeling the need to play everyday. Although my main reason for it (gathering resources to upgrade my exotic weapon) finally ended on Friday evening when I completed the Raid with a bunch of buddies and got the last of the resources I needed. Now just playing to complete bounties, although I wanna start a new game with a new class. But, everytime I play, the “let me play for an hour or so” ALWAYS ends up being 3 – 4 hours later… It’s just got some seriously good, fun gameplay!

However, that may all change… Got Fry Cry 4 and DA: Inquisition on Friday. And you know what? DA:I is an awesome game!! The sheer scope is actually quite daunting – when you enter your first open area map and there are just beacons EVERYWHERE marking quests, places to visit, possible side-quests, etc. it’s seriously difficult to decide what to do next – where to start… Like when you first leave the vault in Fallout 3 and are like, “Where to first”. And I love that!! Just such an epic, open world!

And FC4 is so much damn fun!! Yes, it’s more of the same compared to Far Cry 3 – but, honestly, that is most definitely not a bad thing. And I’m just loving exploring the map at the moment… It’s a fun game that I want more of… Now to plan my attack on that next Outpost (if only I could find a trusty sniper rifle).

Destiny keeps on sucking me in!! Play Fifa and get irritated with the players not doing what I want and then jog my brain with Sherlock Holmes but still go back to Destiny every time!! I just can’t leave it alone, it is as you say just pure fun!!

Oooooo!!! Watched that video last night and I am still drooling!! The Crucible is not difficult to get into, sure it takes practice but it is doable!! I have never played any online shooter before Destiny, and I am more than happy that I waited for it!!
Pure fun with the best controls in a game for the whole of 2014!! By a country mile!!!

Should I get Destiny when I buy a PS4 in the near future (25 March 2015). <– Note that date ;). I don't want to buy a game that's mainly online and people will be like nope your not high level enough to have fun, should have bought it on release day.

Get it. There still loads of people playing. To get to lvl 20 is quick. After that it’s gear hunting. And people will help if you ask.

Honestly, get it!! I don’t think you’ll regret it. Just an absolute ton of fun. And, as Guild says, if you need help, ask – most people are happy to help out and give advice (seems all the douche’s have migrated to GTA:Online on new-gen 😉 ).

I’d say get it as well. The game time you get out of it more than compensates for the price. Plus it’s really fun playing online with other people.

Man, DA:I is amazing!! Totally agree – if I’m honest, haven’t felt this captivated by a game (in terms of the world and the story – Destiny still gets me thanks to gameplay) since Skyrim. Such awesome epicness!! 🙂

I just want more content and I will be back for all expansion they throw out without a doubt!! I got you on PSN? We must team up for some Destiny in future?
