Capcom is bringing back Duck Tales

Derp Tales

Life is like a hurricane, here in, Duckberg! Race cars, lasers, aeroplanes, it’s a…Duck blur! This song might now be trapped in your head, and you all probably now want me dead! But c’mon, it’s Duck Tales, a whoo hoo!

I’ve given Capcom a ton of flack over the years, due to them once having the audacity to charge a price for cheat codes, to the fact that Megaman is about as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit. But I just can’t muster up any cynicism whatsoever for the fact that Capcom is remastering one of the finest Disney platformer games of all time, Duck Tales.

First released back in 1990, the original game saw infamous tight-fister (Which might also be the name of a porn film) Scrooge McDuck travelling the world, and using his infamous cane to pogo-stick the brains of various enemies into the derp zone. For the remastered version, Capcom is also bringing back the original voice cast from the original cartoon series, which includes the 94 year old Alan Young as the Scottish millionaire mallard.

“We have all the original voice actors from the show,” Capcom USA senior vice president Christian Svensson said on the Capcom Unity forums via VG247. “Scrooge’s voice actor is now 94 years old but he still came into the studio and did his thing like a pro. The voice work really adds a lot to the package.”

 DuckTalesRemastered4

As for why Capcom was reanimating the title from beyond the grave, Svensson said the decision came about because people had been asking for it.
About two and a half years ago I started working toward this with Disney because people here kept asking for it (and because I’m a fan too). About a year and a half ago I completed the general outlines of the deal. Disney was on board (and really excited). I then sold the whole concept of the project to Japan as we took it through greenlight.
I’ve still got that Duck Tales game…somewhere, and the upcoming remaster from Capcom is due out on all the e-platforms available in the US summer. Here’s the trailer, which also features that addictive theme song. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go hum the Darkwing Duck theme, which I know will never get remade because it’s a clone of Megaman.

Loved this shit back in the day. But Megaman 2 still takes the crown. Now if Capcom have spent the last 20 years trying to make a megaman game better than 2 but failed, how are they going to pull this one out of the bag?

Let me guess FAN FEEDBACK? But they will still screw it up with some form of on disc DLC or universe cross over.

I dont have a single CAPCOM game in my library and Im keeping it that way. Crap work model since the RE5 on-disc DLC shit.

It’s being developed by Wayforward Technologies; the same people who made the really excellent handheld Contra 4, the awesome Boy and his blob remake, Double Dragon Neon and the best Aliens game in recent memory, Aliens: Infestation on the DS.

      I have faith.

Until the West Wing (like that pic of the EA big wigs) make it episodic arcade DLC redeemable on-line only DRM co-op compatible. $$ Scrooge Mc Duck style.

Its Monday, Im allowed to be an Old Fart :p

Now we just need Chip and Dales rescue rangers, and i’ll be happy. Might even stop hating Capcom.

If that happens, they can remake the Darkwing Duck game too, Capcom / Disney had a good spell on the NES.

Take my money, I will buy this just so that my little girl have a decent game of decent cartoon characters!! Cause lets face it, we all lived in the time of the real cartoon characters, now all of them are 3 dimensional and lack any personality…. Even Tom & Jerry have more personality than todays characters, and they didn’t even speak…. For shame…..

I loved this game. However, when asked why it was reanimated ‘because people here kept asking for it (and because I’m a fan too).’ ERM, What about MEGAMAN!? OVG and I watched the beginning of number two last week and that song is more addictive than Duck Tales, yet we hear NOTHING of a remake. #CRAPCOM makes me sad.

Really? I haven’t heard anything about that. I know there was a Megaman game developed by a fan recently to celebrate the game’s anniversary, but have heard nothing on an official game. One would think, looking at CAPCOM’s marketing strategy for games like Final Fantasy VS (spits on floor), they would market the shit out of a new Megaman, and then fail to deliver…
