Battlefield 4 review round up

BF4

Gear up, soldiers! It’s time to enter the digital battlefield once again, as EA and DICE’s latest entry in to its war glorifying franchise nears release. In just two days you’ll get to commandeer tanks, helicopters and fighter jets – and for the first time in a long time, take the fight to the sea as well. Battlefield 4 is easily one of the most anticipated games of the year for shooter fans. Is it any good?

Here’s what critics – who attended a special Battlefield 4 review event – have to say:

  • CVG: 9/10 – “A triumph on a multitude of levels, Battlefield 4 is the series’ most compelling package to date, a delightfully slick introduction to the next-generation of consoles and more than a good enough reason on its lonesome to pick up a PS4 or Xbox One.”
  • Eurogamer: 8/10 – “Battlefield 4 is, of course, pretty much exactly the game you expect. A rather thin single-player campaign hangs on the tail of a much more interesting and robust multiplayer offering … It’s Battlefield, and the fundamentals are no more likely to change than Manchester United is likely to field an ostrich in goal, just to be different.”
  • Gamespot: 8/10 – “Regardless of platform, Battlefield 4 multiplayer is a blast and definitely the best reason to return to this hallowed franchise or dive in for the first time. Though the campaign makes strides in the right direction, it remains a sideshow to the main event. Expansive and exciting, challenging and empowering, Battlefield 4 multiplayer is a thrilling endeavor in this generation or the next.”
  • Gamesradar: 4.5/5 -  As a package, this is the best Battlefield ever created. While the single-player is far from perfect, it bottles enough multiplayer lightning to garner my rather faint praise of ‘worth a quick play through’. As ever, though, it’s online where BF4 shines brightest. You may not appreciate just how brilliantly designed the maps, modes, and classes are until you experience those trademark moments. Like when you’re charging around an abandoned factory on Golmund Railway, trying to fend off three tanks at once, mortar fire raining down on you from above, shaking your screen and creating unbelievable mayhem. Then–and only then–will you truly fall in love with this game like I have.
  • Joystiq: 4.5/5 – “The main draw for the Battlefield series has always been the chaotic camaraderie of its multiplayer, and that’s no different here. But the sum of Battlefield 4′s parts shows that DICE is capable of more. Not only has the developer iterated on and progressed its marquee multiplayer, it’s provided a tight and cohesive campaign that is everything a military shooter needs to be.”
  • Polygon: 7.5/10 – “DICE has failed once again to make Battlefield 4 a serious singleplayer contender. But its emphasis on ambitious, team-based multiplayer does wonders to wash the taste of that failure away. Battlefield 4 takes the elements that have made each installment work and glues them together successfully – even if some rough edges show here or there.”
  • Shacknews: 7/10 – “Battlefield 4 doesn’t break any molds, but whether you’re making your way through the glossed-up campaign or burning scores of hours battling online, there’s always a strong underlying sense of anxiety and uncertainty. You simply never feel safe. All the great things you remember about the series like realistic ballistics, balanced vehicles, and solid gunplay are here. If you can’t get enough of this stuff and new maps are all you need, you know what to do.”
  • Videogamer: 9/10 – “It’s eye-gogglingly beautiful, laced with breathtaking lighting and particle effects, and offers a significant visual and mechanical step up over the current-gen version. The campaign isn’t without its share of faults, but it’s a near technically flawless launch title that finally brings Battlefield to consoles the way it should be. If you’re looking to pick up a multiplayer shooter alongside your new console, Battlefield 4 is essential.”

It is, then, exactly what you’d expect from Battlefield – so if you loved 3, you’ll probably end up loving 4 as well. Many of the reviews do say that the next-gen (and PC!) versions are far, far superior – so you might want to wait out.

The single-play campaign seems to be better, but still pretty thin. Sure, some might say that if you’re playing it for the single-player, you’re doing it wrong, but I’m one of those people who does play games – even the likes of Call of duty – for the single player experience, so that’s pretty disappointing news.

Battlefield 4 is out this Friday on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Next gen versions will be available for those systems when they’re available, and you’ll be able to upgrade to them for a nominal fee.

Battlefield’s competition, Call of Duty: Ghosts is out a week later. Which are you more keen on getting?

I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
  • Melasco

Sweet, looks good! I knew it won’t be a game of the year candidate since it’s more of the same, but to me, that’s perfect. I’ll be spending years on these battlefields…. Years… I am however going to wait for the PS4 version.

    • Sageville

I’m with you on that one.

    • Ir0nseraph

Me too so December hurry up already

    • SaintsRowNigri

I looked at the games to be released on PS4… They are becoming quite expensive, looking at the R700.-R800 range. Getting too expensive for my liking…

      • Melasco

Agreed :( I’m getting BF4, AC4 and Killzone at launch, but I saved up for this launch for some time so it’s ok. After that, I’ll mostly rely on PS+ or used games except for a big title here and there that will be worth the money in playtime, like Destiny.

        • SaintsRowNigri

Me likes your thinking. Though putting up the initial capital investment for a PS4 is quite impossible for me right now, what with having to finance a trip to Europe at the end of this year (Yup. I am bragging) Maybe at the end of next year I’ll join the next gen, will also give me some time to check which console delivers best.

          • Melasco

lol, I know what you mean hehe… Just bought myself a Honda CB1000R(also bragging), so cash is tight, but I predicted the PS4 to launch in 2013, and kept that money to one side, along with a years worth of ebucks lol, so I’ll get 2 games for free…. Look, the system will be my gaming entertainment for many many years, and games like Planetside 2(free) and Battlefield 4 will keep me busy 99% of the time, so I can justify spending it now and be done with it. Lets just hope old Murphy does net screw me and breaks if right when it’s out of warranty…. lol. That said, Sony’s quality is top notch, so it should be fine for many years :)

          • SaintsRowNigri

Yes, I am still traumatized by my Xbox’s red ring of death two months into ownership. Hence me doing the waiting game thing for now as well. As for money saving? I have never been able to save a penny in my life. Ever. I need help…

          • CypherGate

I feel your pain. Saving is so freaking difficult and yet lots of people find it easy.

          • SaintsRowNigri

I had a friend once and he would take all change out of his wallet at the end of the day and put it in this big metal money box he made. Not the copper only. Silver too. I freaked…

          • CypherGate

I tried that once, but even that couldn’t work. They say its about discipline I guess.

          • ALKi1234

The red ring of death……been there done that, not a pleasant experience.

          • Tarisma

Sounds like me PS4 or trip to Merica. I think PS+ and GW2 will keep mme busy enough for the months to come.

          • Scruff304

It actually because you are too scared of being pawned…

    • Scruff304

Pre ordered mine this morning. I was rather late to the party with BF3, so felt like I was always playing catch up, so I’m looking forward to getting stuck into this one from the get go.

      • Maverick

i had to cancel mine due to being retrenched (operational requirements) :(

      • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

Yeah, BF3 wasn’t kind to latecomers, if you joined months afterwards, the learning curve was insane. One of my mates just couldn’t get into it because of it, whereas I played from day one (had a fair idea of the maps), he just got frustrated because of the skill gap. I suppose had he stuck by it for a couple of weeks, he would have eventually gotten to grips with it, but if your first few matches leave you with a miserable K/D ratio… the spark goes poof!

  • Alien Emperor Trevor

    I choose you CoDachu!

    • John’s (JJ’s) Steaming backlog

Looking to start a fight this early already?

      • Alien Emperor Trevor

No seriously, if I was going to get either of these two, it would be CoD – because of SP.

        • Umar heartless

Would you pay full price for that?

          • Alien Emperor Trevor

Nope. That’s why I haven’t bought any CoDs. I don’t want to pay $20 for an old game to support MP servers I’ll never use.

        • John’s (JJ’s) Steaming backlog

          For SP, yes.

          • ToshZA

So you’d happily pay money to play with dogs then? Actually, just 1 dog. Who’s like a mobile bomb robot, just not as cool.

Also, playing with dogs and fish who swim out of your way are the grand new features of the new installment.

I wish you all the best. Meanwhile, the rest of us will be doing something worthwhile. Like sleeping.

          • SaintsRowNigri

What’s the last COD you played?

          • ToshZA

Black Ops, before that, CoD1. Couldn’t even be bothered to finish BO – heh, BO, how appropriate.

          • SaintsRowNigri

Okay, so how many of the CoD games have you played? Did you play Modern Warfare.. MW 2? World at War?

          • ToshZA

I could hardly stand 1 of them, how am I supposed to buy and suffer through more? Could you justify the purchase?

          • SaintsRowNigri

Of course I can. Look, it’s obvious you do not like CoD. That’s okay. I’ll not judge you for it. But be a decent guy and do not come shit all over a forum other people might find interesting?

          • ToshZA

Please note: This is a Battlefield 4 topic. Talking CoD is something that was brought up to piss people off, in a nice way ofc. Thats what they do. But I don’t like being told a game is awesome or better, when in my experience it clearly is not.

I won’t buy BF for the single player, that was never an option. I will be buying it for the multiplayer though – because thats actually fun. Something I can’t say for the CoDfish series.

          • SaintsRowNigri

Look, just because you are entitled to your opinion does not mean we always want to hear about it. Dude, seriously, how many times on this page have you mentioned the fish?

          • John’s (JJ’s) Steaming backlog

I played BO, was very disappointing. Before that the last good COD was Modern Warfare.

          • ToshZA

            So, like 3 good CoD’s in 8? 9?

          • John’s (JJ’s) Steaming backlog

I played all of them, but the last one was BO. Which was very generic. As many before that.

          • ToshZA

You mean BO2? Not to be confused with CO2, although they both will kill you.

          • John’s (JJ’s) Steaming backlog

I honestly don’t know anymore. Could’ve been any one of them.

          • ToshZA

Case in point. CO2 is Carbon Dioxide gas, not a game. Which if inhaled in large amounts, will kill you. CoD has become so generic.

          • SargonTheGreatPandaOfAkkad

I won’t be sleeping. Between my cookie empire and my new candy empire, I shall have no life left to live.

            http://candybox2.net/

          • ToshZA

            COOKIES!!!

        • Skyblue

But what do you do for the second hour with CoD?

    • Umar heartless

CoDachu used Single Player….. But it wasn’t effective

    • Ultimo_Cleric N7

      CoDachu used Dog.
      It wasnt very effective.

  • SaintsRowNigri

I’ve heard the Battlefield single player campaigns suck, though I never played it myself. But I still believe the Call Of Duty single player campaigns are some of the best games out there.
Maybe not as deep as Mass Effect, but still amazingly well done.
Especially the Infinity Ward releases. Just hoping Ghosts give us the same fun as the MW titles.

    • ToshZA

With fish who swim out of your way, its bound to be awesome.

    • Melasco

It may be a bit linear and predictable, but still loads of fun. “Suck” would not be a world I’ll use to describe it. :)

      • SaintsRowNigri

I haven’t played it myself, so I cannot say. Look, CoD is also very linear, but I just love what they are doing with regards to putting you in a firefight.

        • Melasco

Agreed. Battlefield is very similar, maybe not that good, but for what it’s worth, looks better hehe. Battlefield’s focus is definitely on multiplayer, and I won’t even think about buying it for the campaign.

          • SaintsRowNigri

True that. I so want to get into some form of online gaming, but sigh… time is a luxury I just do not have… That and a decent internet connection…

          • Melasco

Make no mistake, time is a big issue for me as well, and although I loved BF3 MP, I was never very good :) Just kind of average, but I still love it, and playing a quick match or two every second day didn’t take much time hehe. If you wan’t to be good, yes, you’ll need to invest a good amount of time, and you will need ADSL imo, especially if you play on EU servers.

          • SaintsRowNigri

I got the ADSL. My problem is for some or other daft reason I always battle 30 minutes to get the bloody Xbox console online. I just hate battling with stuff like that. So I guess the problem is not the line, but the console…

          • Melasco

That’s strange yes… I’ve got a PS3, and I connect using wireless to the router that’s in a different room, and I’ve got zero issues. I had a 360 for a while, and I can’t remember having issues getting it online. Possibly an issue with your console…

          • SaintsRowNigri

I am starting to think that too. Either that, or the PS3 I have right next to the console is being a bully and hogging all the ADSL for itself, even when switched off! But yes, my PS4, tablet, PC, laptop. phone and so on have no problems connecting to the wireless.
But even with a wired connection that Xbox still stutters…

    • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

Yeah, BF3′s single player was particularly dire – like a terrible Michael Bay movie. But the MP… holy crap! The one title I kept on coming back to for the last two years.

      • Johan du Preez

Yeh the battlefield 3 single player was like a hour long or something, still in the middle of the story and credits started running. I thought to myself it must be the intro credits now that the campaign is kicking of properly.

Alas it was the ending credits.

        • Guest

The Battlefield: Bad Company SP’s…now that’s how they should make all their campaigns. Lots of fun and not taking themselves so damn seriously ;)

          • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

Bad Company 1 was ridiculously fun. The comedy flowed freely. It’s definitley one of my favourite games. I didn’t like BC2′s story that much. It was far too serious, especially given how goofy BC1 was.

  • Uberutang

TIL that people try SP in BF.

  • Otto_ki

Really looking forward too some new and fresh pew pew action.

  • Pieter Kruger

Stop bitching about single player! With what these games cost these days it’s all about replay value ie multiplayer! I think like half the gamers completely skip single player anyways!!

    • SaintsRowNigri

As much as I love SP, I know the target market for CoD and Battlefield is multiplayer. Anybody should know this by now. But to have a decent SP campaign to go with it is not all that bad…

    • Sir Rants-a-Lot Llew

Your view. My view is that SP is integral to any game. Yeah, replayability in MP is great. But I still want an epic SP story where I AM the ultimate weapon blah blah fishpaste.

So in my books SP is still important and shouldn’t be forgotten. It’s also probably why I rather spend my money on games such as Dishonoured, Skyrim etc, where SP is the main focus.

      • John’s (JJ’s) Steaming backlog

        Amen

      • SaintsRowNigri

True that. Hence why I wait for the inevitable price drop in CoD games eventually…

        • Matthew Holliday

Considering the previous CoD titles cost R600 for PC, the price drop already to ghosts at R450 is pretty decent.

          • SaintsRowNigri

Heh-heh! That it is. But if I have to fork out to upgrade my PC… :(

    • Umar heartless
  • Vampyre Squirrel

I’ll be going for BF4, no offense to the COD fans, but I’m totally over COD. Played em all and they end up seeming like the same thing.

    • TiMsTeR1033

Likewise! Just need next gen now…

  • DOA

    BF4 is my choice

  • Rincethis
  • InsanityFlea

Never heard of “Cal of Duty: Ghosts” haha.

    • FSR

Lol, first thing that popped into my head when i read that was Cal Games! So nostalgia win.

      • InsanityFlea

California games was brilliant back in the day! loved both of them.

        • Johan du Preez

hey now there’s a game they must remake. I wasted allot of my childhood on that game playing it on my 286.

  • InsanityFlea

people still play single player these days?!

  • Tarisma

I think I’ll sit it out and wait for Titanfall

    • Kyou

Titanfall will suck in terms of living up to the hype!!

      • Tarisma

maybe but we will have to wait and see.

At the moment I am in no hurry to run out and get any new games still got a backlog plus PS+ and guildwars 2 to keep me busy

  • Mike

I’m not pay waste $60 on REHASHED crap known as BATTLEFAILED 4!!

    • FSR

Yes, rather spend that hard earned cash on CoD, because it’s innovative.

      • Mike

NOT REALLY BRO!! I’M NOT GONNA WASTE MY MONEY ON COD GHOSTS EITHER!!

        • FSR

Good for you BRO. Your capslock seems to be stuck.

          • Kyou

COD GHOSTS WILL BE THE FIRST COD GAME TO INTRODUCE BEASTIALITY!! LOLOLOL I AIN’T BUYING BATTLEFAILED 4 OR COCK OF DOODY BEASTIALITY WARFARE AKA MODERN GAYFUCKSTUPID 4!! • loftie

            LAUGH OUT LOUD!

          • Kyou

            What’s so funny!?

          • Mark Treloar

            This isn’t the Pokemon thread

  • Mike

I’m not pay $60 on a same REHASHED crap known as BATTLEFAILED 4!!

  • Mike

BATTLEFIELD 4 IS JUST A LAZY REHASH COPY AND PASTE SEQUEL TO LACKLUSTER BATTLEFIELD 3!!

  • Mike

THIS GAME SHOULD’VE BEEN CALLED BATTLEFIELD 3.5!!

  • Brenz

Battlefield has always been about the multiplayer.
Single player campaign is there to teach you controls and mechanics before heading into the multiplayer i believe, its not meant to win any awards.

If you are complaining about a poor single player campaign as a reviewer with this game, you either dont know what you’re doing and need a new job, or are trying to be the different hipster reviewer looking to make waves in the mainstream pool, which in that case you need to go drown yourself please.

  • oVg

    lol

    • Skyblue

That does leave a rather odd taste in the mouth.

    • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

Yeah the Batman review was apparently a “fuck you” from Sterling because they didn’t send out review copies or at least didn’t send them out soon enough. Sometimes reviewers can be such childish and entitled little pieces of shit.

  • Pieter Kruger

Have you seen the BF4 next gen comparisons? 720 or not, the Xbone still looks better than the PS4! How is that even possible?! Scientists are baffled!

  • Paul Fouche

played the beta!! was AWESOME!!!! already pre ordered… starting my download tonight…. time to get competitive me thinks :P

    • Paul Fouche

oh and i see people complaining about next gen prices…. get a pc! be better than console.. and only pay R404 for BF4 + the first expansion. haha

  • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

What surprised me is that it looks pretty decent on PS3 and Xbox 360, but the real star has to be the PS4 version.

I checked out JackFrags youtube channel and Battlefield 4 is GORGEOUS! As promised he posted the footage for the xbone (SP) and PS4 (MP). What’s shocking is that the PS4 version looks better than the XBone’s SP, and that’s insane! To have the MP of a game on one platform blowing the SP of another out of the water… is just… WOW!.

Granted if you’re on a 720p TV, BF4 will look good on Xbone, but the PS4 version blows it away! :O HOLY CRAP!

I’m probably going to wait for the PS4 version in December (instead of getting the PS3 or Xbox version). Fortunately, I have a massive backlog to plough through till then.

  • Tidycpc

Will get this as soon as i can buy an xbox in sunny south africa..

  • Purple_Dragon

Ok, disappointing to hear the reviewers commenting on single player. Won’t be getting it then. But i suppose it’s more of a multiplayer game.

    • Jean Jordaan

      You suppose ?
      * not sure if trolling or just new to this world*.
Battlefield is a Multiplayer game and that is that.

Do you criticize F1 2014 for the lack of the ability to be able to play the guy that changes the wheels on the cars during pit stops ?

  • Ultimo_Cleric N7

Yeah, have to agree. After playing the Beta, BF4 looks and feels amazing.

  • Captain GUZ

I pre ordered my BF4 already so I’m quite stoked about that, I still play bad company 2 online and its still heaps of fun. Pity about the SP being ‘average/not so good’ but I will wait till I play to find out.
For me its all about the the MP with my buddies so not to worried about SP.

Not so keen on COD but must say I enjoyed the Zombie mode, keen to see what the new extinction mode (aliens) looks like

  • Devourer of Small Bunnies

How, if I may, deos it conclude as the “Best battlefield” package if the SP is mentioned in every article as being lack lustre/short/fruitless? And proceeds to get amazingly high scores? Dont get me wrong, I play BF, and enjoy it so, but if (relatively) a large part of the game is not up to par, can the rest of it make up for the short comings AND still score a 9/95%. It boggles my fucking mind, nevermind enforcing the fact that theres bullshit amok.

    • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

It’s a freaking mystery. Some titles are just immune to this sort of criticism whereas others get crucified for it. Just one of those inconsistencies in the reviewing process…

      • SaintsRowNigri

Or is it a case of us all knowing (Even on a subconscious level) that Battlefield and CoD are not really aimed at the SP market?

        • Devourer of Small Bunnies

But why the ruse? Surely not sales? Why even bother coding it, if its just a filler for the sake of getting a few extra copies out in the market? Its only the gamer that gets bumridden. Thats my issue. [You see cover art with "gaming website" thumbs up of a approval, so my son will like this right? I mean everyone else does?] <- almost every single parent.

Its this blatant lackadaisical attitude (to which I do understand is subjective) to provide any kind of [subjective] opinion on the matter for the sake of keeping pubs/fans happy annoys the shit out of me.

Ill point to Valshens article on Dragons Dogma. An actual proper review, with oodles of subjectivity but from a valid standpoint. Dont get me wrong, Garth was crucified to no end, but the point was he made his point. In fact he had a point. Whats the point in giving ^half^ a game a score of 9? If it was a MP game ONLY, then yes, dish out all the 9's you want. BUT COMING OUT AND ACTUALLY SAYING IN THE REVIEW "HEY GUYS, THIS GAME IS HALF DONE BUT YOULL LOVE THE HALF THAT WORKS" is a fucking joke as is.

          • SaintsRowNigri

I hear you and to an extent I agree. But with that said, and be honest: If I say Battlefield, do you think epic single player or epic multiplayer?
I agree that the blurb on the box should really read: Multiplayer mostly with very little single player tacked on. I appreciate parents looking at a box and be wowed by what they read. But on the other hand, what would it take from them to grab 15 minutes from the day and Google the game they want to buy their kid? We are living in a smart phone/tablet era, after all.
But if the game is meant from the get go to be 90% multiplayer and 10% single player, do we fail the game if the 10% sucks donkey ears?

          • Devourer of Small Bunnies

Not at all. Whether I feel that it should or shouldnt have the SP component is null and void, and the shame is, with the tech they are using, great set pieces and levels are basically begging to be made. COD had a decent go with the SP for BLOPS (somewhat) but again, they werent marked (nor are they ever) against it. COD regularly gets beastly scores. That fact alone, does it not irk you to your core? How much of this “subjectivity” has alterior motives?

As for the matter of parentals and “research” I think that step is only ever an option if it will directly influence them, but a lot of folk are happy to drop 1k on a gift and move on. Not even realising there might be an internet connection required to play the “9″ part of the game. Its misleading to the less informed. I dont believe anyone who plays games needs to have any kind of interest in user reviews etc etc, “if the box says it, surely its true”, is my issue.

At the risk of sounding like a gramaphone, I agree. I have just been in this business long enough to realize that a great score does not always equal a great game. And I do not always take to heart what the box tells me.
The same goes with a review, whether it be in a magazine or Lazygamer. So if a game scores 98%, I am still going to make up my own mind about it. In my mind a reviewer is just a guy with his own opinion like me. The only difference being he has a platform to share his opinion with more people than I can.
I love the COD single player campaigns, especially those done by Infinity Ward. But then again, I am a bit of a CoD fanboy, as that series has been a favourite of mine since the release of COD 1 way back in a day. Like I said before, they are great popcorn games, and somehow always draws me in.

Welp, i think we covered all the bases for a compelling debate. Now, back to business, lets go get some whiskey

    • Rags

I don’t even know why they bother with SP TBH. I’ll be happy with offline botmatches instead.

      • Devourer of Small Bunnies

Thats actually a brilliant idea. Scrap SP and rather go for prac matches. Hell even co-op prac matches.

        • SaintsRowNigri

Like they did with Unreal Tournament. Yes! I second that.

Battlefield is a multiplier online game. This single player campaign you talk about. No Idea what you area talking about. ( Yea I know it is there, but I don’t even bother).
Its like insisting a fighter jet because of its on road capabilities. Yes it has wheels but why drive when you can fly, do you see where I am oping with this ?

Titanfall has the right idea. Skipping this single player stuff all together.

      • Devourer of Small Bunnies

Precisely. My issue is the scoring as mentioned above. If its not being scored holistically, then how reliable are the scores?

        • Jean Jordaan

So a weighted scoring system would be better.
So lets say the average BF4 player will spend about 300 – 500 hours on a game. Lets assume the SP campaign will take about 30 hours to complete ( if not less). That means that the SP campaign will carry a 10% weight of the total score. ( technically less)

So if the MP portion scores 90% and the SP scores 30% that will give a total of (90*0.9) + (30*0.1) = 84%

From this we can make an assumption that the above scores are rather accurate.

          Its science ;p

          • Devourer of Small Bunnies

hahaha, fine have it your way.

Im still between which to get on first. I am a little scared of Battlefield because of the MOH drama I went through, reading the Battlelog forums it seems that BF4 is crashing and freezing at random times ala MOH. So….I will wait on buying it I think. COD, also not sure I will wait a few days as well before jumping in. This is for PC by the way

Looks great and no doubt will be great. Played 1942,1943,Battlefield 2, Bad Company 1 & 2, BF 3, BF Online and Battlefield Heroes so I’m obviously a bit of a BF fanboy, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I played the BF4 Beta on PC and I just think that Battlefield 3 with all the expansions is about 85%-90% of BF4. So I will skip to get it on pre-order or launch. MAYBE I’ll get it later. At the moment I’m getting my kicks from ARMA 3 and I’ll be getting COD: Ghosts for the first time since COD 4. It looks like it has a great campaign mode, some awesome co-op and obviously the MP will be good gun-play run and gun, which is a nice diversion from ARMA 3 ultra realism if I just want a quick game. I just think this time around it provides a little more value for money (was R400 at the time from Kalahari) for me esp with BF3 still kicking around strongly.

Wow a game that I actually couldn’t give two shits about!

    • Guest

If you don’t give a shit about it, why waste the time and energy to comment on the article to say you don’t give a shit about it?

      • Aussious

Because I’m not the poster that Lazygamer needs right now but the one it deserves!

Battlefield 4 is a total failure! Do not waste your money on this game. All the hype above is complete bulls**t. The single player campaign isn’t just thin, it is a disjointed mess. It has a pointless storyline and the gameplay is boring and uninspired. Multiplayer is even worse. The servers crash constantly and the hit detection is so bad, the game is pretty much unplayable. Imagine unloading entire clips into an enemy player with dropping their health at all! EA Games should be sued for false advertising.
