I’m slowly getting amped up for Batman: Arkham Origins, but then again, we all know the lengths that I’ve gone to over that small obsession. The season pass for that game on the other hand, doesn’t seem very special at all. But WB Montreal is hinting that there may be more content hidden inside of it.
According to producer Guillaume Voghel via IGN, the season pass will be more than just cosmetic fluff wrapped up in a $20 price tag. Well, that and the Bruce Wayne initiation challenge map. But maybe, something else as well:
There’s going to be a lot of value in that Season Pass. One of the items we can’t talk about yet…we’ll just wait for the gamers to really see what the entire package contains. It’s going to be a big deal.
If there’s some hidden extra story content waiting inside that season pass, then that price could be somewhat justified. But it would be nice to know that beforehand. Y’know, instead of being subjected to Riddler marketing.

Personally I fear Trevor more. The beating Batman would give fails in comparison to the torture and possible sexual abuse Trevor would dish out.

I’ve seen this kinda talk on infomercials live Verimark. “Value”,”big deal” and trying to sound mysterious about hidden content. They are just selling a product, in this case a season pass to make more money.
Their jobs is to convince you to spend extra cash on a game that’s already at a AAA price. That “something else” will have to be mind blowing to convince me, but I doubt it.

You’ve already decided the price. How about you let me determine the value. They’re different things.

We can’t determine anything, all they want is our MOOOOLA, nothing but cows to these fat cats. I swear, the day they started charging money for color swaps in fighting games I knew it was all downhill

Sure I can, I can choose not to buy it. I’ve learnt my lesson. And if lots of them go this way, then I don’t buy any. I’ve got years of gaming saved up in the old backlog.

20 dollars is about R200 no? … I bought Gaucamelee and Lone Survivor for just over R200…how in God’s name do these people get away with this…and how … Please God tell me how….do people fork out money for extra costumes and a few extras…To hell with extra story content…….Go play Silent Hill 2 where you get extra story content as Maria and multiple endings…for the price of…NOTHING…….

I can’t deal with this, passing off all these useless things as ‘value’…before the game is even released gosh!……….

DLC used to be called expansion packs. I remember Red Alert and Starcraft had those. I t would come after a game was released. Normally they would do this if a game sold well.
These days they have the gall to announce DLC and Season Passes before the game is even released. Basically they are selling content that could have been included in the game but were removed to make a extra buck.
I fondly remember how with the Quake series for instance people designed their own skins for characters, mods and levels to play on. It was free to download by anyone. These days it’s DLC after DLC that you have to pay for.

Dude exactly!!….I feel like all these things could have been in the game. so now when planning to make a game, you plan DLC too…lol….But again…gamers will continue to buy it
And so true hey, not even just the PC scene. console games had all these extra things as UNLOCKABLES…..which made it all the more fun……You would strive to unlock that Venom Constume in Spider-Man 2 … now you have to pay for it…

You got awesome models & skins for Quake. My favourite was still Quake 2 though, running around as an Ultramarine.

We used Mortal Kombat skins. There was even one for Blade with sound effects that was released right after his first movie.

As much as I want Arkham Origins I’ll wait for the GOTY next year with all the DLC included, for less money than I would spend on the game now. Did it with the previous two and it was worth it.

So basically DLC is now hero’d under the guise of “Season Pass”. Something wicked this way comes. Again. As usual. And probably for the rest of our natural lives.
