Just who is the Arkham Knight? There’s been a lot of talk recently over the identity of the mysterious new villain who will be both a physical and intellectual match for the Batman. Most folks reckon that he might be a former Robin who went bad, a character who is better known in comics these days as the Red Hood. Well it may be time to put those rumours to rest, as the Red Hood will be in Batman: Arkham Knight. But he sure as hell ain’t no knight in shining armour.

Batman News got the scoop on the new Gamestop exclusive pre-order bonus. Here’s the image, which looks legit enough to me. Red Hood Arkham Knight

In the comics, the Red Hood was originally Jason Tood, a streetwise kid with a bad attitude and the second person to become the boy wonder known as Robin. Despite being trained by Batman, Todd was a dangerous and unprecictable sidekick who ignored the rules and was as much a menace as he the villains that he fought. This Robin would eventually meet his end when the Joker decided to see if skull could beat crowbar, before blowing up the teen sidekick.

However, Todd would later return to life when Superboy-Prime punched reality hard enough to rewrite his death (Comics are weird man), with Todd eventually making his way to Rha’s Al Ghul and embarking on a quest to become more than his former mentor, and have his revenge on the Joker. And he did so by becoming the new Red Hood, a persona that originally belonged to the Joker himself. Irony!

If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend watching Batman: Under The Red Hood, which is an ace adaptation of his storyline. I’m not keen on this DLC being a retailer exclusive but I’d still love to take a shot as playing as a Batman-trained vigilante who isn’t afraid to get his hands and pistols dirty.

Because he's the writer that Lazygamer deserves, but not the one it actually needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can't take it. Because he's not a hero. He's a loud-mouthed journalist, a watchful procrastinator. A dork knight.

That poor weather girl… In the face at full speed!!!

      • Hammersteyn

She shouldn’t be outside, the signs where clearly there.

        • caponeil

She should have stopped and look around first.

          • Hammersteyn

They were sure nothing would stop the hurricane coverage

I bet AK is a clone.

  • Viking Of Science

Firstly, there goes my theory that the Arkham Knight IS the Red Hood…
    Secondly, Fuck Gamestop Forever… srsly

lastly, Darryn, I only had one problem with Under the Red Hood, and it’s minor… the lack of Hamill and Conroy…

    • Hammersteyn

Hamill is the Joker, always was always will be. Here’s a crazy idea, why not star him as the Joker in a live movie?

      • Viking Of Science

As much as he embodies the joker in voice…. He doesn’t have the look….
But, why not redub the physical actors voice with Hamill’s

The did it for that Fantastic 4 Movie… Laurence Fishburne voiced Silver Surfer

        • Hammersteyn

Well Joker does have all that make up. Add some hairstyle and scars? Who knows?

          • Eric

Could be from his battles with the Sith…

          • Hammersteyn

            LOL!

I rather dug both casting decisions in that film. I LOVED the John DiMaggio Joker, and Bruce Greenwood was a great Batman, without the need to sound to like he smoked a pack of 20s every day.

      • Viking Of Science

Blasphemer! There is Only Conroy and Hamill!

        • http://www.lazygamer.net/ The D

Also good: Peter Weller and Michael Emerson in The Dark Knight Returns Part 2.

          • Viking Of Science

Peter Weller Brought his Own Take on The Dark Knight, And Considering it was Based on Frank Miller’s Specific work, It was great. Besides, He Was Freakin Robocop….

Also, Batman Year One. Jim Gordon being voiced by Bryan Cranston. that is perfect.
