Assassin’s Creed: Unity PC specs revealed

Assassins Creed Unity Assault

Viva la revolution! Assassin’s Creed Unity is finally tackling one of my favorite historical periods, The French Revolution. It’s recreating Paris with a stunning amount of detail too, but that could mean my PC is on for a revolution of it’s own in order to get things running.

Unity is a current-gen only title, which makes the PC specifications a little less surprising. As is common with most new games, the highest requirements here are VRAm and physical hard drive space. Unity is going to gobble up a whole 50GB of it, and having a card with 2GB of VRAM has now become a minimum requirement rather than a recommendation.

You can check out the full specs below, and perhaps reconsider what platform you’ll be eagle diving from next month.

OS

Windows® 7 SP1, Windows® 8/8.1 (Only 64-bit supports)

CPU

Minimum – Intel Core® i5-2500K @ 3.3 GHz or AMD FX-8350 @ 4.0 GHz or above
Recommended – Intel Core® i7-3770 @ 3.4 GHz or AMD FX-8350 @ 4.0 GHz or above

RAM

Minimum – 6GB or above
Recommended – 8GB or above

GPU

Minimum – NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 680 or AMD Radeon HD 7970 or above Graphic

Memory minimum – 2GB

Recommended – NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 780 or AMD Radeon R9 290X or above Graphic Memory

Recommended – 3 GB

Sound Card: DX9.0c-compatible
HDD: above 50 GB
Multiplayer: 256 kbps Upload bandwidth or Higher

It’s yet another game which is making 2Gb of VRAM look like absolutely nothing. Granted a lot of games lately overestimate the amount of video memory they actually require. For example, Shadow of Mordor constantly warns me that my settings require more than 2GB, while I’m only rocking 1.5GB. It still runs incredibly smoothly, so it’s best not to panic just yet.

It is, however, becoming more common. If you’re sitting with a 2GB card you may want to start looking at some upgrade options in the near future. That’s if you really need your PC games to run as best as they possibly can. Otherwise, carry on.

After the Watchdogs PC FAIL, do they really think gamers believe anything they say anymore?

I agree, those protagonists are shit. As for that torture scene. The game rests on Sensationalism that I outgrew in my teens.

Give me a character that I can feel for. CJ was close. Poor silly old CJ got sucked into the LA Riots all because he wanted to go to his grans funeral lol.

Ellie from TLOU will always be the most relatable protag and she is the opposite sex to me. Go figure.

After Watch dogs PC, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, Xbox One, and PS4 fail. It sucks for everybody. This game is more poorly optimized than fallout 3. Now after the FarCry 3 on console joke, Assassin Creed 3 lag issues on every system, Uplay not working since day one and the Playstation 3/4 exclusive content well no other system is treated with exclusive content players have a right to be pissed at Ubisoft.

What I have come to realize after 3 decades in this hobby is that the market forgets very quickly. The gaming market is the easiest to sway and are nothing more than a pot of frogs being boiled slowly. Microsoft tested the waters with their XBONE reveal and tweaked the work model into a smoke screen. They do not want 24hour DRM? fine, lets make the DRM games pop sensations.

lulz. I’m starting to think new games specs are just a bad joke. The jump seems a touch sudden & extreme, it’s like they’re just throwing out big numbers & hoping it sticks.

Almost seems like they’re not spending much time optimising games & are instead hoping high specs will cover that up. Always patch it later #amirite!

It’s just bad porting on their end, I’m passing on Ubisoft games for now, when they grow a brain I’ll consider buying they’re next installment which will be what AC 20 by next year?

it isn’t it is Sony and Microsoft who are paying them off, it would bad for NVidia and AMD to do, they want to prove just how powerful even lower end cards can play games, where Microsoft and sony wants to make it seem as expensive and hard as possible to play well on PC

When, in the history of PC games, was the recommended GPU R6500+? That just doesn’t seem right and really unfair to be honest. It’s as if they want us to buy consoles

It’s Down to PC optimization, Which I don’t think publishers / developers actually do anymore. PC is only a sliver of the “AAA” market. So why would they bother.

Also, I’m Calling it. AC:Unity Locked to 30 FPS on PC.

100% it’s to push consoles. That’s where they want to focus their games so they artificially drive down their sales on the PC market to make sure execs pull the plug on PC games for them.

With you on this. If games like Alien: Isolation, Borderlands 2, Crysis 3, BF4 (need I go on?) can all run on mid range GTX 500 series cards (and AMD equivelants) then Ubisoft has no excuse. They just did a terribly lazy port.

          Now THAT is code optimization.

What’s the point? I got my 7950 for about R3500 last year and now it’s not even making the minimum requirements. I really am annoyed by this. The R299pm FNB Xbox One deal is starting to look good… Pity they don’t have the PS4

Your 7950 is still more than enough. Ubisoft just can’t port to PC properly. The game is most likely highly unoptimised which is why it needs such beefy minimum requirements.

Oh dear Lord, I hope they`re not serious about those minimum GPU and CPU Requirements. I5-4670K here with an overclocked 7850. If those requirements are accurate, I won`t even be able to play this game on a PC I spent 20 grand on last year. Fml.

With enough ram to run a stock exchange

      I don’t mind high specs I really don’t , but when tey start sayin U need an i7 , that’s where I get a headache

Out of interst what cpu does a ps4 have compared to a normal pc ?

Another articles sated they want atleast 6 gigs vram ? But the ps4 only has 5 gigs ? I confused and something smells like zuma

Definitely. As I understand, the PS4 CPU has 8 cores, but eight weak cores, sort of like the AMD 8320 or 8350, but I still think those Desktop AMD`s are a LOT more powerful than the PS4 CPU.

I`ve no idea what that`s about, all I know is developers like to overstate their requirements these days. As seen with Shadow of Mordor, which was fine because the PC version was damn well optimized. But when they say a GTX 680 or 7970 is the minimum required GPU`s? That`s just fucked.

    Wait wait wait……

Minimun 680 GPU? Are they effing serious? They are looking for a top of the range 6 series card minimum and 2GB VRAM? This screams terrible port and horribly unoptimised.

I’m sorry. I can’t take them serious if their minimum specs are higher than most mid range rigs (Which makes up the majority of PC gamers as not everyone runs a beast machine)

I’m sorry but I think Ubisoft is making the spec requirements sound higher than it needs to be for 1 of 2 reasons:

    1) Build hype about how good it will look (and probably won’t)
    2) To use it as an excuse to focus exclusively on console as it’s “too hard to get games across from console to PC and so we won’t do PC games anymore”

Seriously. I think Ubi has lost complete touch with what gamers on PC are and what they have available to them.

    GAH!!!!!
