Assassin’s Creed Unity patch to fix all remaining problems

ACU patch

I was so excited for Assassin’s Creed Unity – it looked pretty, had tons of cool stuff and could have been the best Assassin’s Creed game to date. Unfortunately, it was launched as a broken mess, and earned negative reviews and bunch of bad blood as a result. Ubisoft is trying to fix things, and they might be almost there.

In a post on the Assassin’s Creed blog, Ubisoft has announced Patch 4, the patch to rule them all. More than just framerate issues, it should fix most remaining issues. We can expect a more detailed preview next week, which should hopefully mean that the game will be fully functional by the holidays. However, here are the things basic things that they’re trying to fix.

  • Game crashes after loading your save: We’re devoting a lot of attention to this one and we have a workaround (try taking your system offline and reload your save, you should be able to play offline). Most instances of this crash will be eliminated in Patch 4, but if you do still encounter this issue after the Patch is applied please file a Customer Support ticket to help us identify what your issue is so we can create a fix for it.
  • Error CE-34878-0: Similar to the crash mentioned above, the game freezes or crashes after loading your save. This particular error message is exclusive to PS4. This issue should be resolved in Patch 4.
  • Initiates legacy recognition issues: Many of these issues have been resolved, but we’ve noted that it could still take several days for all of your progress from past games to be fully updated. If after five days you still don’t see your progress accurately reflected on the site, please file a ticket with Customer Support so we can more closely examine this issue.

Other fixes include issues with the companion app. They continue to work on Unity, and are hoping that this will rectify most remaining issues.

I’m glad to see this – it needed to be done and it’s good to see that they have worked so quickly to sort things out. I think for many people, this will be all that was necessary – as long as the game is safe to buy as a present during the holidays, it should be fine. However, many many people were burned by being early adopters, and the gameplay experience has been tainted as a result. I will happily go revisit Paris once Patch 4 is released, just so I can experience the game the way that I had hoped it would be from the start. I just don’t see many people making the same journey with me after such a horrible launch.

Will you give the game a whirl now that it’s so improved, or is it just not worth it anymore now that your hype has dissipated?

It may fix all remaining problems, but it sure as hell won’t fix my lack of interest for the franchise since II.

But not for correct use of the exclamation mark? 0_O Terry Pratchett has a very good definition of the type of person who uses more than one 😛

At least the Witcher is being held back to be patched and downgraded pre-release 😉

Game needs some excitement around 30% through and I am getting Bord

Last time I ever buy a day 1 pc game ( after gta v ) I am done with preorders or what ever , would rather have waited 6 weeks for a working game instead of having to redo the first 10 hrs twice

Ps , far cry 4 sucks , really it’s far cry 3 remodeled , I played and finished far cry 3 this year , and far cry 4 is the same game for me at least

Completely agree with the far cry 4 comment, I love far cry 3, vaas is still my ultimate gaming villain ever created! The story was good, and it felt new! Far cry 4 feels empty, almost lifeless and I couldn’t give a shit about pagan min, he isn’t in anyway psychotic enough, and 40% through, I’ve had 2 or 3 messages over the radio from him! I feel like I’m finishing the game just for the sake of it now, gonna trade it in and hope dragon age can hold my attention for longer!

Nice summary ! For some reason far cry 3 looks and runs better for me , my gpu temps are hitting 80c and the game doesn’t even look half as good as far cry 3 , for me atleast

Will there be another review of Assassin’s Creed: Unity? You know, once it’s actually finished? I’m still looking forward to this game, and can’t wait to play it, once development has actually been completed.

This is why I don’t pre-order. Wait a few months, buy the game for a discount and play a fixed game.
