Assassin’s Creed Syndicate evolves with Darwin and Dickens

Assassin’s Creed has always shown off some cool scientists and artists of the various eras and locations. From Da Vinci to de Sade, these intriguing characters make the games depend more historically interesting. This time around, you’ll be hanging out with Darwin and Dickens, and they seem to offer some cool extra missions, maybe.

Here is the trailer that has popped up on GamesHQMedia but hasn’t yet appeared on Ubisoft’s official channels:

An interesting trailer, that is totally ruined by the fact that these extra missions are pre-order bonuses only. Then again, we are usually pretty lucky here in South Africa. Sure, our game prices keep climbing thanks to the ridiculous Rand exchange rates, but we usually get the pre-order bonus missions included in our game purchases depending on your retailer of choice. I think once they export the game, the issues around retail exclusivity start to melt away.

Really though, I feel like this was a missed opportunity. Charles Darwin is a cool scientific choice, but surely they could use Sir Arthur Conan Doyle as their literary hero instead? Making it out like Evie is Sherlock Holme’s inspiration, or even making her a fan of the books and looking to solve mysteries in London would be such a fun way of exploring the city.

Despite the fact that these games look cool, I’m not sure that I would trust Ubisoft enough to pre-order any Assassin’s Creed game. It’s just far better to wait and grab it after the reviews drop. Maybe this year, the review embargo will actually be before the game’s launch date.

This does sound a little bit like a Verimark ad, pre order now to get the thing you really don’t need delivered to your doorstep, so you can waste an evening scratching your head as you try to make space for the other 36 items it replaced….

It would be interesting to see how Darwin’s theories work in the lore of the AC universe. Essentially Natural selection would indicate that the Assassins are destined to lose against the resourceful and numerous Templars. Also Humans didnt evolve, they were manufactured by “those that came before”.

The constant issues experienced by the Lazygamer site are just a tactic to get us to use MS Edge 😛

Once I get to Unity then will buy this, when it’s cheaper of course lost a lot of faith in Ubi after the whole Unity mess and especially the AC series!
