Because you can’t kick a good rumour, more “evidence” has popped up suggesting that Grand Theft Auto V will be making its way to new platforms. A couple of European retailers have started accepting orders for GTAV on platforms that have yet to have officially announced ports.
According to Eurogamer Portugal, Portuguese retailer Worten is accepting pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto V’s PlayStation version, while Czech retailer SuperGamer is taking pre-orders for the Xbox One and PC versions of the murder simulator du jour.
Eurogamer Portugal contacted Worten for clarification, to be told:
"On the issue that got us, we would inform you that we have the information that Worten stores will sell the game in question."
I have absolutely no idea what that means. Worten doesn’t list a release date, but the sneaky Czech’s say the game will be available on June 13, 2014; a Friday, which is the day games get released in Europe.
Of course without any announcement from Rockstar, this all needs to be taken with a rather large boulder of salt. On that front, the company’s remaining mum. quizzed on the matter last month, Rockstar’s parent company Take 2 reiterated that it had nothing to share.
“At this point there is really nothing for us to say about that… We haven’t announced anything as it relates to any of the platforms versus what’s out there."
The only thing that would get me to play this again would be the inevitable mods that will grace the PC version. what modders managed to do with GTA IV on Pc – despite it being an unoptimised mess – is quite frankly incredible, and I can’t wait to see what they do with GTA V when it hits PC.
