Alien:Isolation reunites Ripley and the 1979 cast as a pre-order bonus

Ripley

Pre-order bonuses are usually a chunk of change saved and a cosmetic item or two being granted to early adopters. Rarely is this  content ever actually useful or needed though. But here’s a cool incentive for folks who are keen on getting a double-kiss from a Xenomorph in Alien: Isolation. They’ll be getting the chance to hang with Ellen Ripley and the Nostromo crew when the game launches. Oh no, not again!

Currently a GameStop pre-order exclusive in the states, players who want to take a second chance in the Alien franchise and pre-order the game will be upgraded to the Nostromo Edition. That version of the game bundles in the “Crew Expendable” mission content that reunites Sigourney Weaver (Ellen Ripley) , Tom Skerritt (Dallas) , Veronica Cartwright (Lambert) , Harry Dean Stanton (Brett) , Yaphet Kotto (Parker) and Ian Holm (Ash, likeness and sound-alike). If you’re wondering why John Hurt isn’t on that list, it’s because the exclusive mission takes place shortly after his death. Plus the War Doctor probably demands a premium fee for lending his unique vocals to any production.

Players will then have to lure the Xenomorph into an airlock, playing as either Ripley, Dallas or Parker while coordinating with Lambert and Ash in order to avoid a double-kiss of death. “Working with the original cast has been an incredible experience,” said Alistair Hope, Creative Lead on Alien: Isolation in a press release.

It was important to us to have the key original cast members reprise their roles in order to perfectly capture the atmosphere of the movie. For some of the original cast, this is their first appearance in an Alien video game. Seeing them reprise those roles after 35 years was an unforgettable experience.

Other select retailers will also have the “Last Survivor” pack as a pre-order incentive, which is all solo Ripley action as she works her way through the Narcissus and Nostromo ships looking for an escape shuttle. That’s a hell of a pre-order bonus, and a positive sign to the legit lengths that this game has gone towards to make an authentic Alien experience. Alien: Isolation is out in October (With every single other damn game this year) on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PS3 and PC.

But,but the entire John Hurt scene is pivotal to the first movie, the cast knew what was gonna happen but no one knew what the Alien would look like. Hence the look on their faces was genuine.

    *sigh*

I am not pre-ordering anything. No matter how “cool” the content is.

Back in my day (Oh my feq did I just say that?) Things like this were unlocked by playing a game and achieving certain goals or finding secrets that let you unlock special missions/skins etc.

*standing in front of whatever flag gamers deem patriotic*
This bull that we have to pay is ridiculous! I will not go quietly in to this apparent new “golden era” of gaming! I am going kicking and screaming! I will fight this change where I have to pay for unlocks! I will fight this era where “easter eggs” in games do nothing for us but give us an unlocked achievement that gives me nothing extra in the game for finding it! I will not buy day 1 when I know that there will be massive patches! I will not buy at launch when I know that I will get all the content as a GOTYE a few month later while those who pre-ordered get shafted by having their content given to everyone else anyway!

A day may come that gaming may die, but today is not that day! TODAY WE SAY NO TO PRE-ORDER EXCLUSIVES! TODAY WE SAY NO TO THE CARROT IN FRONT OF THE NOSE!
TODAY… WE FIGHT WITH OUT WALLETS!

*waits expectantly for the cheering… Hears only crickets as everyone dashes off to pre-order Alien: Isolation*

Seriously all this is, is a cash grab by playing on our nostalgia. Basically the are whoring out Ripley for a quick buck, how dare they cheapen a legendary icon like her? She carved a new path for actresses in Hollywood

You know the character was never designed to be female right? 😛

Indeed. The characters for Alien were designed to be generic male counterparts and after auditioning Weaver designed the character around her. Still the best depiction of a warrior female if you ask me. She kicked ass and took names!

I’d follow her and Lena Headey into battle any day. Though they’d probably kill everyone before I even got of the boat
