XCOM-Shooter-Renamed-into-The-Bureau-Report-Says

According to Polygon, a number of staff at 2K Marin, the folks responsible for Bioshock 2 and recent blunder XCOM: The Bureau have been laid off. In fact, the Studio may no longer functionally exist.

While there’s no detail on the specific number of staff that have been let go, reports say that it’s the majority, and that the studio is effectively shut down. It’s a real shame, because they were a talented group of people, who weren’t really put to the best use by their 2K overlords.

"We can confirm staff reductions at 2K Marin. While these were difficult decisions, we regularly evaluate our development efforts and have decided to reallocate creative resources. Our goal to create world-class video game titles remains unchanged," a 2K representative told Polygon.

Another source said that they were "100 percent sure" that 2K Marin is effectively closed. Honestly, Bioshock 2 was actually pretty good, especially the Minerva’s Den DLC, which brilliantly distilled the entire Bioshock experience in to one single episode.

As for The Bureau? That went through so much well, bureaucracy, shifting from Irrational Games, to 2K Australia and finally 2K Marin – where it ended up becoming a wholly different thing. I can;t help but wonder if it would have been a better game had it stuck to being a first person game with a huge X-files influence, instead of the confused mess of a game it ended up being.

Sad news. Let’s add 2K to the list of crappy publishers to work for.

The fact that those poor okes don’t have unions just leaves me flabbergasted. At least the Swedish guys have a video game union. That must really piss EA off to no end though.
