Greenberg : Playstation Move is a “Great Product”

Normally, when Xbox product director Aaron Greenberg opens his mouth, it’s about how much better his stuff is, and his comments usually come across as exceptionally biased. That’s to be expected, considering his position at Microsoft.

This time though, he’s managed some pretty balanced, reasonable comments about Sony’s Playstation Move – even calling it a “great product”  just a week before Microsoft’s own motion-sensing peripheral, Kinect hit US retail shelves.

“Here’s what I think: Move is just a different approach to the market," he said in an interview with Eurogamer. "We’re thinking about Kinect as a key component to the platform, and what they’ve done with Move…”

"First off, it’s a great product and the reviews seem to be pretty favourable. But they’ve targeted it purely to existing owners. They’ve said you can decide whether you want to play existing titles on the platform, like SOCOM, with the controller or with Move.”

"Our approach has been different. We’re not going to take Halo, a game you love playing with the controller, and offer you the option to play it with a different interface which may or may not have been designed for that game. We want to build completely unique experiences from the ground up which are designed for Kinect. It’s just a different approach."

Finally adding that : "[For] gamers who have a PS3 and like playing those games, [Move] offers a different way to play – and some people will get pleasure out of that, absolutely."

Sure, there’s a subtle subtext about how Kinect’s offering new experiences of Move’s existing ones, but it’s nice to see comments that aren’t at all childish or puerile like we’ve seen in the past. Was the Playstation move used in a series of donut ads I’m not aware of?

    Greenberg you’re the man!

Very neutral.. I like it, that’s the words I want to hear seriously, not a childish like comment.

Well because of that as a ps3/move owner, I’ll buy kinect.

Cause that’s whats I called Healthy competition.
