If there’s one thing that the previous generation of gaming was known for, it was milking the hell out of the games that came before it, stretching some classic gems into a 16:9 aspect ration and repackaging them as collections. This generation is no different, with a definitive edition of Tomb Raider ramping up the visuals. And the entire Halo collection might get the same treatment soon.
Rumour has it that Microsoft is planning a quadrilogy release of Halo 1-4 for the Xbox One, says Engadget. Whether this collection would include Halo ODST (Boo!) or Halo Reach (Yay!), is unclear as of now. In fact, don’t hold your breath, as this collection is meant to focus only on Master Chief and having those two side-games along for the ride would shift that attention away from the legendary Spartan soldier.
According to the sources the team behind the anniversary edition of Halo: Combat Evolved, Saber Interactive, will handle the transition of giving the rest of the franchise an HD sheen. Apparently, PC and Xbox 360 versions are also in the works.
I dig the idea. The next game from that franchise, Halo 5: Guardians, is still a long ways away from an Xbox One release in 2015, and this could fill the gap nicely. Microsoft has yet to issue a comment, but we should hear something as soon as Zoe finally manages to kidnap that rather vicious Rottweiler that belongs to one of the 343 Industries studio bosses.
E3 will most likely be the staging ground where this latest Halo entry is announced, along with Halo 5: Guardians. So get ready to finish the fight. Again.

I know I shouldn’t care and say something like “no” but, well YES!!! I would buy this with pleasure!
However, Darryn, ODST was great! Different in terms of setting but I thought very cleverly thought out. Oh and I am gunning for your new Resogun scores!

If they are doing all these HD remakes/re-releases, can they at least go back a generation or two? Maybe then they can fool a few of the young uns into thinking they are playing a new game at least?

HD as in just increasing the res and texture sizes?
or HD as in, modern engine, modernised graphics etc?
I struggle with playing old games, just cus they look so… old… even with high res textures and full resolution. there are alot of old games that I missed out on, and would love to get into, but theyr just so… old…
