The World of Warcaft: Legion Invasion kicked off this morning

Before all new World of Warcraft expansions is an experience which prepares you for upcoming adventure. A series of Invasions, new unlocked areas, and a new playable class is what awaits you with today’s World of Warcraft patch. The announcement went live yesterday with the patch being available in the United States. Europe’s inclusion was made available this morning, ahead of schedule. Here you can take part in the Demon Invasion, travel to the Broken Shore, and if you’re one of the lucky few who have pre-purchased the game, you can create your very first Demon Hunter and complete the starting experience in Mardum, the Vault of the Wardens.

The new Demon Hunter class, now playable.

The new Invasion kicks off right after the opening cinematic, where you join Varian and Sylvanus as you attempt to fight back the Legion.

This leads to a three week invasion where each week will feature new quests as you try to take back Azeroth. Game Designer, Jeremy Feasel, spoke to CNet about the three weeks which lead up to the launch of World of Warcraft: Legion.

“In the first week you’ll join Varian and Sylvanus in the next stage of the opening cinematic for the Legion expansion, and you’ll see how that plays out.”

There will be a number of quests available, new cosmetics, outfits, and weapons. All this is needed progression to get the head start in the launch of the new expansion. As the new instances role out, getting ahead is important if you want to progress through the dungeons and raids alongside your friends. Let’s not forget the Demon Hunter class which is now playable, and this is an entire adventure in its own.

“In week two, Dalaran, a magical flying city that can blink through time and space moves over to the top of Karazhan. This same week Magni comes back, and you’ll join up with Bran, Magni and Khadgar and go to Ulduar and figure out some of the secrets the Titans have left behind that will allow us to destroy the Legion.”

Sorry, what? This is an absolute curve ball if you consider where we left off in Warlords of Draenor with regard to the story.

“In week three, the Legion figures out we know what we need to do to defeat them so they start an all-out assault on Dalaran. That culminates on the very final day of the expansion pack with a huge 24-hour assault on the city. During that, players will help Khadgar to charge up Dalaran to teleport again.”

This is a needed process to prepare the hardcore raiders and PVP players for the upcoming expansion. Getting new gear is crucial for the initial stages of the expansion. Blizzard have also done an incredible job in making the game more accessible for new comers as the adventure never stops, and if you’re a person who loves a great story, and okay  graphics, then I’d highly recommend immersing yourself in the World of Warcraft.

For me, the most exciting aspect is the new addition of Dark Whispers. In the two major cities, Stormwind and Ogrimmar, players can make a pact with the Dark Forces which surround the new expansion and become a Vampire. You can then bite enough people to become a World Boss and we all know what World Bosses are good at – Destroying everything!

This is just a small taste of what’s to come in Legion, but the only advice here is to get a head start over everyone else. I sure will be, and I hope to see you all there.

FOR THE HORDE!
