I think I’ve reached peak Jedi saturation when it comes to video games. Now don’t get me wrong, Force-choking Gungans for sick kicks never gets old, but I’d kind of like to explore a familiar galaxy that happens to be far, far away as someone else. A charming rogue who relies on a blaster, shoots first and regularly gets into all manner of trouble as he finds himself caught between opposing sides of robe-wearing dictators.
Sounds very much like an Uncharted game, doesn’t it? And with Uncharted’s Amy Hennig leading the charge on a new Star Wars game under the development of Visceral Games, you’d be forgiven for thinking that EA was ready to take their version of Nathan Drake into space. But that’s not exactly the case here, as Hennig spoke to Glixel about their secret game whose only connection to Uncharted would be a spiritual one. It won’t be “Star Wars Uncharted,” Hennig explained.
As the article pointed out, Uncharted games take place from a single viewpoint, whereas Star Wars relies on an ensemble cast. Something that ties back to comments that Hennig made in September regarding the status of the Star Wars project. “So I thought that some of the rules I had used making Uncharted no longer applied,” Hennig said back then.
In Uncharted or in Indiana Jones you actually kinda stick with Indie the whole time. There are times you cut away, but it’s always something that informs you on what he is doing, like Marion in the tent. In Star Wars you’re always cutting away to the bad guys, and seeing what they’re doing: ‘Meanwhile, back at the villain ranch…’
Sounds good to me! Right now, the return of Star Wars has seen the franchise go beyond the status quo, to create new media with new viewpoints. Something that we’ll see more when Rogue One: A Star Wars Story releases next month and gives a wider audience a look into the battles that were fought to retrieve the plans for the first Death Star.
If that’s an indicator of Star Wars as a whole attempting some new content, then I’m all in. Especially if it results in an HD Remake of Star Wars: Masters of Terás Kási because I have a terrible taste in everything.

Jar Jar Binks is the True Sith Master. Supreme Leader Snoke is just a poser.

If I’m understanding this correctly I don’t think a video game can pull of multiple playable characters. Unless it’s set up like GTA 5. Even that was a little annoying. Open world game where I choose to be evil or good, saber weilder or blaster bolt slinger.
