Quantum Break coming to PC

Quantum Break might have changed a bunch since Microsoft first revealed the video game/ TV series hybrid years ago, but it’s still poised as one of the biggest exclusives for the Xbox One in 2016. And for good reason too. It’s got the phenomenal team at Remedy behind it, it looks and sounds spectacular and introduces some interesting time-bending mechanics that I can’t wait to mess around with. Thing is, it might not stay an Xbox One exclusive at all.

Quantum Break has been rated for PC in Brazil, which has lead to the belief that Microsoft is doing with this exclusive what it has done with almost most of its other ones. It’s seems the strategy at Microsoft is to publish most of their first-party titles on the Xbox One first, and then slowly roll them out to their Windows platform later. It’s smart, but often leaves one wondering why they own a PC and Xbox One at all.

Although that’s not always the case, and it seems Quantum Break falls squarely into unknown territory here. Shortly after the rating when up, it was removed by the Brazilian Classification Board. Either it wasn’t meant to go public so soon, or the listing was a mistake entirely. Microsoft haven’t yet revealed a PC version for Quantum Break, and I doubt they will if there truly is one until after the release of the Xbox One version.

It could also mean that Quantum Break will simply join the likes of Sunset Overdrive as a pure Xbox One exclusive, which would make sense for a third-party developer working with Microsoft to produce a single exclusive. Classifications are sometimes also secured only for the possibility of future use – even if never acted upon – as made clear recent by Jonathon Blow after he rated The Witness for Xbox One.

Still it’s not a stretch to imagine Quantum Break will come to PC, especially since Remedy is so familiar with the platform. It’s just up to the deal they have with Microsoft.

Most console gamers I know own a PC, but hey don’t own a gaming PC. That’s what the console is for, the PC is for everything else.

Yup with the price of console games being what they are, I might as well buy a new PC when the one I’m currently using becomes too obsolete

Might not be worth it, PC hardware is shooting up in price now. Stuff I bought on 31/12 for my new PC would’ve cost me an extra R800 if I’d waited 2 weeks.

As scary as that is, in a years’ time, the price for my PC shot up by R2500, without changing a single component…

It’s bad. I actually bought the case for my new PC in May 2014 heh. It would cost an extra R500 now. 37% increase in 1.5 years.

WHAT!? That’s madness! Gee wizz, my GFX card cost me R5699, the same card now costs R6999, it’s madness…But you went the AMD route?

Yeah. I was considering a 970 but R6k was a bit too much for me. Especially when an R9 380 was R3.5k and I’m not interested in more than 1080p gaming. Very happy with the card, playing W3 on high with better frame rates than my old 6950 on medium.

And the 380 is now R4k. Eish.

I felt the same, I only have a 1080p screen anyway, so having a 4k premium attached to that would’ve been ridiculous, and those 380s are bloody good cards, you’d rarely need more than that…

Yeah that too. Mine’s 1080p max. Even 1440p monitors are scary expensive to me.

Yep! I tend to avoid tech shops nowadays, those prices are horror films in the making…

The real horror is some of the people that work there. You ask them a question and they look at you like you’ve asked them to solve world hunger.

Yes!!! Hahaha!! I walked into a shop once and asked a simple question, “What clock frequency does this memory run at?”, I was reminded then of what it felt like to stare into the eye sockets of DEATH, who featured in Terry Pratchett books, “A vast empty space, so deep, it could swallow galaxies, had it not been for the limited space in the current universe”

Hahahaha, I got my Xbox 360 for a LOT less than that… but also use it as a DVD player at the moment.

It’s a shame really, Me and my wife play Borderlands on it, but that’s currently the extent of it, this is of course, because I don’t want her to laugh at me while I play Bloodborne, which induces a natural tendency to try and eat your controller…

Haha! I got Dark Souls for “free” (with Gold) on my Xbox 360, played for 10 minutes and decided it wasn’t for me… I’ve got a friend that loves that game and has finished DS2 twice (maybe more now) and DS about 4 times.

MIGHT! Why can’t all games come out for PC as well? It can’t be that hard, can it?

PS4 and PC, Xbone and PC, WiiU and PC, and then all. 😛

The easiest solution would be to develop for PC and downscale from there, but this has been said a billion and twenty hundred and four times over already…

Hehehe, in all honesty, I love my PS4, really awesome piece of equipment, but in reality, I bought it for the exclusives, having a gaming PC that usually provides me with gaming without hiccups and higher frame rates, makes it worth while…

            That’s exactly why I’d get a PS4, for exclusives… I just love playing on a PC.

So if it looks so good on a xbone which has mid range specs when compared to PC, will my mid to highish end PC be able to play it better than the xbone? i.e. more stable 60fps compared to the xbone probable 30
