Ubisoft wants to be friends with PC gamers again

PC Gamers have a certain disdain for Ubisoft – and for very good reason. In the past, It’s saddled its inferior PC ported games with draconian, always-on DRM. They stopped doing that quite some time ago – but gamers have never really forgiven Ubisoft, because the company still seems to focus on consoles, and when PC games do come, they tend to be released significantly later. Ubisoft wants to change that.

They want Pc gamers to love Ubisoft again – and one of the way’s they starting is by offering third party games through its uPlay service, says Uplay director Stephanie Perotti.

“Announcing all these partners for Uplay and a wider choice of PC games, it shows our commitment to PC, and we want to improve our relationship with the PC community,”

“We are always seeking to improve. We took a lot of that feedback on board. With every game on PC we are improving. Far Cry 3 and Assassin’s Creed III on PC were very high quality.”

“At Uplay we are also offering all Ubisoft titles, more console content and elements that gamers are more interested in. It’s about offering more options and more choice.”

I think a good place to start is by making uPlay not terrible – or even make it go away altogether. With Steam and EA’s own services already there, does the world really need another digital-delivery PC game store?

Step 1) Stop this UPlay nonsense
Step 2) Stop porting and pay some attention to PC and the fact that a PC actually has a keyboard and mouse and that all PC gamers don’t want to plug a controller in just to play the games
Step 3) Don’t call ACIII high quality on PC as it still felt like it needed a controller.
Step 4) Stop this UPlay nonsense
Step 5) When stating you want to give more love to PC don’t include the following in your statement:

“At Uplay we are also offering all Ubisoft titles, more console content and elements that gamers are more interested in.

I thought this was about the PC guys?

I absolutely hate Origin. This weekend Origin almost drove me mad. Trying to maintain a constant DS3 co-op game
I don’t particularly like UPlay either, but it’s not as bad as Origin. But everything should just work through Steam and klaar. That would be best.

RANT ENGAGE: I hate Origin. I hate Steam. I hate Uplay. I hate Windows Live. I hate every draconian-client system that forces downloads, hampers gameplay, gives connectivity issues, refuses to install off disk, and cordially invites you to “join the community”, as if I weren’t already having mild scizophrenic tendencies from all the other communities out there. My hearts longs for the days when gaming was a simple insert disk, install, download patch (optional for crying out loud!), and play. Sigh, those were the best days of my life…[listening to Bryan Adams while puppy-dogs fart rose petals]….DISENGAGE.

“It’s about offering more options and more choice” but we’ll force you to use uPlay.

Why don’t they become friends with gamers in general, also?
