Upscaled

Now I am the first to admit that I don’t really know to much about all this upscaling nonsense but I really can’t see much different in the pictures above.

IGN has a whole pile of screenshots through the link and it really wouldn’t have mattered which one I picked as I can’t see the difference in any of them. Except the first but I think that is a lighting problem.

Anyway could someone please point out the difference for me?

The difference is best noticable on a HD screen when running the games in question. Most PS2 games look horrible on LCDs simply due to the nature of the native resolution. With the upscaling the game is expanded and enhanced ( AA or AF ) to fit the LCDs native res which helps quite considerably. The smoothing option doesnt work for all games as it could get too blurry but it does cut out the jaggies.

Its just too hard to see the differences from the two screenshots IMO.
