Lionel Messi is once again on the cover of FIFA 15

It’s a rare occurrence when the best player on the planet in a singular sport is also generally respected as one of the nicest people on the planet. So it is without any surprise that EA Sports have revealed that Lionel Messi will once again grace the front cover of FIFA 15. Even our sporting impaired Darryn doesn’t have anything bad to say about Messi apart from that people shouldn’t be paid so much to kick a dead pig around a field. There isn’t much more I can say about this but I have that damn word limit I need to hit… oh here why not read the official press release and then stare lovingly at the box art below:

EA SPORTS today announced that Leo Messi is set to appear on the global cover of EA SPORTS FIFA 15 – due out late September 2014.  Falling just short after a stunning performance that saw him receive top individual honors at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the 27 year-old won four Man of the Match Awards and scored the same number of times in the tournament. Messi had 28 goals for FC Barcelona this past season. EA SPORTS is honored to have Messi lead a roster of international superstars set to appear on the cover of FIFA 15. This season will mark the fourth consecutive time that Messi stars on the cover of a FIFA title previously appearing on FIFA Street, FIFA 13, and FIFA 14. In that time, Messi has been on top of the football world at FC Barcelona, setting the record for most goals in a year (91) and marking a milestone as the only player to receive the FIFA Ballon d’Or four times. Leo Messi was originally announced as an EA SPORTS Football Ambassador in November 2011, a partnership that has not only put him on the cover of multiple FIFA titles but also brought a new street football pitch to Barcelona thanks to the Messi foundation and EA SPORTS.

The only differences I can spot here are the old gen consoles have a red number 15 while the new ones, and PC, have a gold 15. The rest are pretty much identical with a bit of zooming and cropping to fit the different sized cases. Oh, and who the hell uses the PlayStation Move at all, let alone in a FIFA game? I get using the Kinect voice, but PS Move?

As always you can expect customised covers in certain countries who will put their local players alongside Messi in an attempt to get you to part with your cash. I can’t even think who will be the cover for the English version, so please don’t say Rooney, especially after his last disastrous year.

The marketing is strong with Messi.People say that’s why FIFA chose him as player of the tournament even though the only goals he scored was in the group stages.

My vote was with Arjen Robben but perhaps his penchant for being fouled in spectacular (and unrealistic fashion) swayed the vote away from him.

I would have thought one of the Germans, Maybe Klose seeing how he now holds the records. But that would be applying a bit of logic

Screw Robben. The worst diving fucker since Maradona. How do FIFA speak up about his antics? They award him a Man of the Match award. Robben represents everything that is wrong with football.

I think Cillessen should’ve got it. He outplayed several star players while taking his clearances LOL. I thought that might backfire but no.

I thought Rodriguez was the standout player of the tournament but he got the Golden Boot award so those corrupt fuckers probably just wanted to spread the love.

EDIT: There were also several goalkeepers who could have won it.

well be objective ..yes he was of a list of ten…. well i watched him.. he scored almost every type of goal…(long distance free kick; dribble run score ; long range shot ect) he lacked the header though. he also had assists in crucial times( and not a typical assist it cosisted of beatinga player and drawing 3 others to him creating a gap for demaria) he didnt dive, he tackled well, he had impacting moments. no fouls, and as for the scoring in the early rounds..welll check the defence on him in the final rounds as by then he was declared a class 1 threat. his passes were good. and any way he doesnt need to score every match but has a stat of 5 goal in four matches…. and in total 5 goals in 7/8 matches…..still good. maybe if they played brazil he would have had 3 or four more 😉

Fifa and Messi should just get married and get it done with, this is total bullshit he doesnt deserve it, real madrid or bayern munich should be on the cover or atleast some of the players

I agree 100% with you!! Fifa and Barca’s relationship is hurting football!! I bet you Suarez’s ban will now be reduced because he is a Barca player!! Blatter even praised him yesterday and said he thinks the ban is too long!!

I still think the ban is an excessive reaction to the media surrounding it, it’s not like he broke someones back

No man, there can’t be any condoning him biting someone!! Fine the first time, but 3 times in 4 years?? He needs a heavy ban, it will probably do him good!! And someone should really give him a gum guard like rugby players have, I would be to scared to come close to him on a pitch 🙂

I really don’t like Messi, I think he is selfish and only plays for his own glory!! Did you watch the semi and the final? He didn’t track back even once, he hangs around the centre circle and for his team to pass to him, then he plays again!! Him, Neymar and Suarez are all individual players, Barca’s midfield players are going to run their arses off this coming season…. Suarez tracks back every now and then, Neymar and Messi never!!!
I would have loved a new face on my Fifa cover….

I think you got it all wrong there bru but that is your opinion.

I think he is a great player. Does not fake a dive or tackle. He is a play maker, he pass the ball to his teamies when there is a better gap for them.

Messi does not have to track back, he already got a great defence team in Argentina and it is all about the game plan. He played very good in the world cup but his team was not that good and he had to do a lot of work to make things happen.

Neymar on the other hand … he is a douche. Suarez got the potential to be another Messi/Ronaldo if he stop is stupid shit. He is going down the same idiot path as Rooney that also got the same potential …

Anyway, back to the topic. I think they should get someone else on the cover like … hmmm
      Robbin … TROLOLOLOLOL

I would have any of the Bayern stars on there this year to be honest. I think Muller would have been a better bet, or Muller, Ribery and Robben….

I didn’t say he isn’t a brilliant player, he is the second best player on the planet. But go and look at that final again. And having a good defence doesn’t help if you can’t get the ball back from the opposition and that requires players to press up… All of them, like Liverpool played last season. The whole team had to press and cover for each other…

If you don’t have the ball, you rely solely on a moment of brilliance like Messi had in the 3 games he saved them. But then in the final they just marked the crap out of him and he couldn’t replicate his brilliance… As good as he is he needs to do more for his team off the ball in my opinion.

Ronaldo was running back and helping Real’s defence this last season and he won the Fifa player of the year. Coincidence??? I think not!!

But yeah opinions on football matters are all in our own minds, so everyone is allowed theirs!!

Messi selfish what are you on about? There is no player that does more for his team I actually though he passed too much in the final game as rest of his team mates are completely useless. Reason he won for the player of the tournament was bcuz he pretty much carried Argentina to the final save them 3 times and DiMaria getting injured in last two games he had no help.

But that’s my opinion you got yours which is cool. Now let’s go back talking about games;)

I hear what you are saying, but off the ball he doesn’t do anything for the team. Not at Barca and not in this world cup. He needs to help press the players on the ball, just like everyone else!!

But yeah opinions are all good, live would be so boring if we all had the same ones!!! Hahahaha

The more I hear of Cristiano Ronaldo the more I am starting to come around…. For instance, he made a girl pregnant 4 years ago and she wanted to have an abortion. He gave her an undisclosed amount of money, read a fucking boat load full of money to have the child and then to sign the child over to him as sole parent. Him and his mother is looking after the laaitie… He was only 24/25 at the time!! Then last year he heard about a boy in Madrid hospital who needed a very expensive operation and his parents couldn’t afford it. He went and paid for the operation in full behind everyone’s back and told the hospital to tell the parents it was a anonymous donor. No one would even have known if someone at the hospital didn’t leak the story…. I think there might be more to the idiot than meets the eye….

You should be more concerned with Liverpool selling their prize German Shepard. They have actually managed to sell the entire Liverpool team with one transfer that will take them years to recover from given that the team was built around him.

I think Messi is an absolute phenomenon and I love how you never see him grabbing a limb like it was just shot but Ronaldo is still a football fans footballer.
