Good afternoon, armchair detectives! I trust you’ve all spent your weekend playing through the not at all like Grand Theft Auto L.A Noire. Or perhaps you haven’t on account of the game causing your console to overheat or freeze.

The game’s gotten a patch, that may or may not fix the problems you may or may not be experiencing.

Here’s what the patch promises to fix :

– Fixes for several in-game store issues including age-verification for DLC purchases
– Fixes for minor gameplay bugs and graphical issues
– Fixes for several minor plot/objective/conversation issues
– Improvements in stat-tracking and Social-Club integration

Nothing to fix the problem of overheating PS3’s or Xbox 360s, because according to Rockstar, there is no problem. “With the launch of LA Noire a very small number of Xbox 360 console owners have reported issues with the game freezing or locking up while playing,” said a Rockstar spokesperson to MCV. “We posted some troubleshooting tips on our support site for these very few people, a common practice for any game publisher.”  “Unfortunately this was erroneously picked up by some news outlets as a ‘story,’ reporting that LA Noire was causing issues to Xbox 360 consoles – which is categorically untrue. LA Noire has not caused these issues to the Xbox 360 console or the PS3 console as previously addressed by us and Sony. We are always committed to solving any problems people may have with our games and if you are experiencing any problems, please contact technical support.”

Similarly, the company issued a joint statement with Sony stating that “We have received a very small number of customer support questions about PS3’s overheating or shutting down while playing L.A. Noire.  At this time, Rockstar Games and Sony can confirm that neither L.A. Noire or firmware update 3.61 are causing the PS3 hardware to overheat.”

I’ve played it on both consoles without any overheating. Any of you experiencing issues?
