Yes, we know the Xbox 360 is trying take over your living room as a dedicated entertainment hub – but did you know that Sony’s PlayStation 3 “isn’t as good of an entertainment console?” According to Microsoft’s Yusuf Mehdi, everybody knows that.
Speaking to AllThingsD’s Peter Kafka, he and Corporate Vice President at Microsoft’s entertainment focused LA Studios Nancy Tellem spoke about the Xbox 360’s transition "from a gaming console to an entertainment console."
"Yes, we started with video games, but we have been on a journey to make Xbox the center of every household’s entertainment," says Mehdi, claiming that The PS3 "isn’t as good of an entertainment console" — something he believes that "everybody knows"
Funnily enough while Xbox is trying so hard to focus on entertainment, I really feel that the Kinect-driven interface is holding them back. I use Netflix on both consoles, and the PS3 version is far, far superior – offering better video quality and a much more intuitive interface (one that’s essentially the same on the Wii U). Others seem to think so too, because according to Netflix, the PS3 is the machine most used for that purpose.
Of course it helps that PS3 users don;t need gold accounts just to use a service they’re already paying for.

A statement like that will get either support or spite, Mr. Mehdi. I prefer the latter.

It’s always hard to choose something other than the beloved Play Station that I supported since I was a toddler, but in all honesty between the 2 consoles i was definitely using the Xbox more over the last 3 years.

Yeaa, If I want to listen to AC/DC I put the CD in my hi-fi. If I want to watch movies I put the CD in my Blue-ray. If I want to watch photos I look at my photo albums – must be getting old.
Brady miaau
February 15, 2013 at 11:14
If I want to listen to AC/DC I can use my laptop, tv, computer (wife uses her Blackberry and now her Lumia 920). We copied all our 400+ CD’s to the computer and just stream to whatever device we care to use.
It is awesome. No hi-fi required.
Please do not ask how many of the CD’s is classical music……

Sometimes I use LP’s or even tapes (obviously with a pencil in hand, just in case). Once my wife brought back this thing called “iPod”, but I couldn’t figure out how to copy music to it….so, now the 4 year old use it as her play-play cell phone.
Brady miaau
February 15, 2013 at 13:01
Well, fair enough. I own no Tapes or LP’s (did own loads of tapes, trashed them all a few years ago, tape machine ate them)
At least the iPod is used
Music, in the background, is great. Make life more, well, peaceful.

Let us as pc games unite our swords once more to defeat the evil which is console gamers. Bring forth your charisma and superiority and we will let the rivers flow with the blood off the mouseless minions. Some of us will fall, some of us will quit, BUT WE WILL BE VICTORIOUS

I think the PC is superior in many ways, but I still like my dedicated piece of kit, for playing games on the big screen.

It’s retard central at Redwood…. But I get why they’re doing it, even stirring a little means, they get some publicity prior to SONY’s big reveal (well… unless Sony is merely trolling and unveiling the new 4G Vita in 5 days).

Streaming media to my PS3 compared to my XBOX? No comparison, PS3 better by a long way. Also as said, don’t need to get PS Plus to access Netflix on PSN. PS3 FTW!

I never get why people waste time and power streaming media to the PS3. Just get a media player and anyway most modern TV’s can play your junk of a flash drive.

Use it because PS3 media server transcodes media if the TV’s encoder/Xbox cannot play the file. Works like a champ
