Dragon Age 3: Inquisition gets new gameplay details and concept art
Ha ha! No one expected the Dragon Age 3: Inquisition! Our two chief weapons are surprise, sequel milking and nice shiny new concept art pieces! While Dragon Age 2 may have been a clusterbomb of bad gameplay and cheap ideas, it looks like EA has learnt from that blunder of a sequel, as they’ll be bringing in some new features for the third game, all rolled up in a world that is biblical in scale.
Speaking during a panel at the Edmonton Comic & Entertainment Expo in Canada, cinematic designer Jon Perry said “one level in Dragon Age 3 is as big as all of the levels in Dragon Age 2.” Running with that size matters trend, creative director Mike Laidlaw then added in that “customization is going to be bigger than Dragon Age Origins,” and that players will also be able to customize their followers”.
The team is also currently looking at implementing influences from previous Dragon Age games that players had owned, as decisions in those ones could have ramifications in DA3, albeit with the development team looking to do so “without save imports.”
Series writer David Gaider chipped in as well, saying that players would be human, and that “backgrounds will be in Dragon Age 3 even though you will be human, it’s not playable but it does significant impact on the story.”
Flemeth the Shapeshifter will also return, because according to Gaider, “It feels wrong to not have a little Flemeth in your game.” Erm, ew? Dragon Age 3: Inquisition will only be out next year for those of you brave enough to tangle with shiny red-suited menaces and their pointy pillows.
