God Of War (8)

Yes sir, your favourite Greek god of of hyper-violent death and war is getting a tune-up for a PlayStation 4 release.

It’s been ten years since the first God of War game was released, with the upcoming remaster of the third title kicking off the birthday celebrations in July. Developed by Santa Monica Studios, God Of War had players assume the role of Kratos, a dangerous individual fuelled by rage. And possibly ragehol. Which would make him a rageaholic. Man, that guy was angrier than a Hulk convention with a malfunctioning air conditioning system in summer.

The game will of course run at 1080 peas and 60 frames every second. And that’s about it, it seems. You’re going to have to do better than that Sony, if you want my money for the same game a second time. Here’s a bunch of screenshots to look at then:

Even though its the lightest of remastered games out there, I’ve still got a soft spot for God Of War 3. It’s arguably the best in the core series, both in terms of gameplay and visuals. The action was tight, unrelenting and merciless, while the scale was higher than ever before. Seriously, few games out there give you the chance to punch your way through an ancient mountain god. Or engage in QTE sex scenes with Aphrodite.

God Of War 3 will be out on July 14 in the US of A and July 15 in Europe. Here’s a trailer as well, in case you need some more Kratos carnage on a Monday morning:

It’s a fantastic game. But it already looked great on the PS3. And I think this is most definitely a ‘lite’ version of the current batch of remasters… For me, maybe if they threw in GoW: Ascension as well (i.e. both GoW titles from the PS3 era), I’d consider it.

But hey, if you’re one of the few who haven’t experienced GoWIII yet, you most definitely must check this out!

Why only GOw3 though??? Why not all three, seeing they wanna sell it at a full game price.

Two sides to this coin. A lot of people tired of all this remasterbating going on. It’s time for new IPs. But, a lot of PS4 owners were 360 owners in the previous generation, and haven’t played this magnificent game before. I loved the game but I would love a new entry.

It does just feel like a money grabbing scheme. The only remastered i could be bothered about was the homeworld one.

I’m starting to see why no current gen consoles added BC. Its so that they can re- release 4 year old games like these at full price!!!

All these companies releasing remasters? They can take the money I paid for the game first time about, remaster that and give me a game.
Bah! So glad I haven’t got a console yet. Remaster after remaster after remaster.

I think it cost time and money to remaster. Hopefully they’ll learn to make consoles backwards compatible.

Yes it does, but the least they can do is clearly mark games as “remastered from the xxx version”. I as an uninformed consumer have accidentally bought remastered games before and been disappointed that the graphics and mechanics aren’t current gen.

A remaster I wouldn’t mind paying for is the first Uncharted. I would love to see what it would look like with a texture upgrade here and there.

There is about 40 million people Xbox 360 users that will be making their way onto the PS4. Sony has to cater it’s old game to these new players who never got to play those games. So remastered games for PS4 makes sense.

Now what doesn’t make sense is remastered games for Xbox One. There are no fucking new users for the Xbox One. No PS3 users are buying Xbox One. No Wii users buying Xbox One. Only Xbox 360 users are buying Xbox One. So all the remastered games for Xbox One, has already been played by the Xbox one users. And that ain’t right Microsoft.

Went through the list of PS4 games available at the moment and so far not one reason to buy a PS4… hoping Arkham Knight will change that.

I’ve platinum’d the original GoW3. This game will probably have trophies and even if they stick with the same set from PS3, it is extremely unlikely that they’ll carry over. That alone is reason enough to NOT buy this game.
