You won’t hear about The Elder Scrolls VI until it’s near release

Of course there’s going to be a new Elder Scrolls game. Skyrim is still one of the most popular games in this blue planet of ours, so it’s inevitable that we’ll be getting a follow up. We told you that Bethesda’s Pete Hines said as much, but that fans should expect a long, long wait to hear any news of a sixth numbered Elder Scrolls.

In fact, much like the reveal of Fallout 4, you won’t be hearing about the game until it’s nearly done.

“You’re not going to be hearing first details on [Elder Scrolls 6] years before the game comes out, absolutely not,” Hines told PC Gamer. According to that site, the only reason Hines confirmed The Elder Scrolls 6’s existence was because he was tired of being asked about it all the time, so he was hoping people would shut up about it. Apparently they haven’t because, well, here we are.

Just don’t expect it any time soon, because, Hines says, “It’s not the next thing we’re doing nor the thing we’re even doing after that.”

Of course, they could just spring it on us at E3 next year just as they did with Fallout 4 – which was announced just months before it was set for release. Why?

“The motivation came from both sides,” Hines tells PC Gamer. “Anything we want to do from a PR-marketing perspective always has implications on the devs, right? Whether that’s trying to capture video or trying to put together a demo: it’s an additional ask above and beyond just working on the game.”

In the meantime, of course, there’s that remastered, retextured, rejigged version of Skyrim coming to the newer consoles and PC that you’ll have to make do with.

Skyrim was pretty & exploring was fun, but I really hope they put a bit more effort into the storytelling & combat next time around because those were lacking. Most side quests & even the main story were pretty uninteresting & combat became a boring chore after you had a few levels under your belt.

Dude, it is Bethesda we are talking about… Failout 4 is a very good indication where they are moving towards…
I am just sick and tired of companies abusing the fanboy out of people and not putting effort into their products.

Skyrim getting a 10/10 and games like Witcher 2 which had more soul than a peasant in Skyrim did not even get that much of sales, just shows you that Bethesda has not “threat” to improve their shit.

I’ve skipped Fallout 4. It sounds very shallow and I wasn’t the biggest fan of F3 or NV to start with.

Fallout 4 is very shallow and that proves to me that their next Elder scrolls release will also be shallow…

For example games like Witcher 1 -> Witcher 2 and then Witcher 3. You could really see the improvements in game and story…

Look at Morrowind -> Oblivion and then Skyrim. Yeah graphics improved but the combat system did not change at all and the story telling went down …

There is no real improvement from Bethesda, they sell their games based on fanboy love and no because of quality.

I never really got into Morrowind, but I loved Oblivion. Replayed it a few times. Dark Brotherhood quest line is still one of the best from any game series.

I was a touch disappointed with Skyrim when I found there wasn’t much of an improvement from Oblivion when it came to game play. I spent just over 100 hrs finishing it, have no desire to play it again & haven’t even bothered to play the DLC.
