Cutting content from your own game sucks – but like with film, games need editing too. Without editing, videogames would all be filled with pointless drivel. Or be made by David Cage. Dragon Age: Inquisition writer David Gaider has said that cutting content is tougher than gamers might imagine.
Speaking on his tumblr, Gaider said the game is now in alpha, meaning it’s “content complete” – and the team is now focused on making that content actually work, and making sure the story flows.
“This is a pretty stressful time for everyone,” Gaider said. “Every cut feels like it’s reducing the overall quality of the game, until there are so many of them you feel like you’re producing a piece of crap—until you remind yourself that every game goes through this, and the alternative is shipping late or not at all.”
Gaider said that it’s not something fans can readily comprehend.
“They’re usually oblivious to what’s going on, harping on what color the sails should be while the hull is rapidly leaking water,” he said. “Which is a strange dissonance from our perspective, let me tell you.”
Of course, any content that ends up being excised will likely end up being shoved back in as DLC, right? We’re now about six months away from Dragon Age: Inquisition’s release. The game has us rather excited..especially since we heard that The Witcher 3 would be delayed to 2015.
Dragon Age: Inquisition is set to interrogate your PC, Ps3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in October. The Wii U does not expect the Spanish Inquisition.

Here’s an idea: don’t cut so much content. Polish it all up and rather release a complete solid game a little late than a buggy unfinished game where the cut content will be DLC anyway …..

Unfortunately, I doubt it’s really that easy hey. A lot of games have cut content, hell some games still has it in the code. Delays hurt the games as well, so it’s a very thin line they have to walk. NO game designer wants to see their creative work cut from the final product. Publishers are the evil ones that force this (Most of the time)

That would be nice and all if BioWare wasn’t owned by freaking EA. EA doesn’t give a damn if you’re not done yet. They support your project financially and expect you to be done within a certain time limit and if you don’t make it, you’re basically screwed.
