Yeah, that’s what happens when you’re game is a PC game and you don’t have online services like Xbox LIVE breathing down your neck and forcing you to charge for everything so that they can get a cut.
CD Projekt, the developers of The Witcher 2 have announced that all of their DLC will be completely free. That doesn’t mean that there won’t be paid content though.
According to CD Projekt, while the DLC will all be completely free, they will have paid content in future, but paying moolah for more will only come into play with full expansions to the game.
Remember expansions? They were these bundles of extra content for games that didn’t try and set fire to your wallet by breaking them up into little pieces and overcharging for each little piece, not to mention they actually had proper extra content.
Also to be clear, any DLC that comes specific to a retailer or pre-order special will remain that way, so those specials all still stand.
The Witcher 2 releases today on PC along with its first free DLC called Troll Trouble. Now that’s how it’s done. Appreciate your customers and fans, don’t try and take them for everything they own.
