Over 13 million people played the Battlefield 1 beta

I didn’t get to play the Battlefield 1 beta, for reasons that largely involve me not really wanting to play the Battlefield 1 beta. Multiplayer shooter games just aren’t my bag, baby. Anyway, many of those who did play it, say its reinvigorated the series – and given them a good reason to purchase DICE’s upcoming World War 1 shooter. At least, if it wasn’t so expensive.

Anyway, many, many people played the beta. According to EA, its become the biggest beta in the company’s history, with 13.2 million people signing in and playing. In other statistics gleaned from an infographic, the assault class is the most popular, with 30% of players opting to shoot everything that moves. The scout came in at a close second with 28%.

Battlefield 1’s week (and a bit) long beta tried to avoid the many issues that plagued Battlefield 4 when it was first launched. EA wanted to replicate its Battlefront launch success – instead of frustrating and annoying gamers with a broken game at launch.

“We’ve taken a lot of learnings from that experience, and we feel like we succeeded with Battlefront. We’ll take everything we learned there and apply it to Battlefield One as well.”

Did you play the beta? Has it got you convinced to pick up Battlefield 1, or do you have your eyes fixed on another multiplayer shooter this holiday season? Battlefield 1 is coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One on October 21 this year.

Hey, that’s soon.

It was so awesome. I think I’ll remember the first time I cut down a couple of snipers (with a sabre) while mounted on a horse… fondly…

Can anyone explain why NFS a $60 game is still R600 in the origin store?

I thought they fixed their pricing with the rest of the world?

Wait, so you’d want to pay more for a game, since $60 equates to R850.
Let them not find out about the R/$ value please, or else we’re all screwed.

I never said that 😛 but the price increase for BF1 was justified by saying that the prices were wrong and they are now fixed.

If the prices are supposed to be fixed on the store, then what happened to everything else, why was it JUST BF1?

Maybe because they saw 13 million people playing and found a way to get more $$$ 😛

        EA doing that?? Never 😛

So the fixed price for BF1 is R1k….. I wouldn’t even want to know what the wrong price was then.
Perhaps the other games did not get a fix price because they were already released on that price.

They have for new games; Titanfall and FIFA also cost a fortune. New games will have the new pricing. Older ones like NFS are still at resonable levels.

Only 10% played as medic because it was impossible to know where people were shot down, and the request medic system didn’t help.

I noticed that initially folks didn’t bother to wait for a medic, they would just spawn out. Later on, when it became clear that a revive is beneficial, folks would wait. I remember something similar happening during the BF3 beta (a few years back).
