Nintendo is currently hosting their last Direct for the year, and it started off it a bang. I’m talking The Legend of Zelda – the one franchise that the Wii U has been sorely throughout its lifespan. The Legend of Zelda Wii U has been a title floating around for ages now, and the emergence of the Nintendo NX led many to assume that that it had been pushed to stronger hardware in order to act as a launch title.

Tonight, Nintendo reassured fans that it is still coming to the Wii U. And that it’s definitely still on track for 2016.

New gameplay footage for the game was also shown off (during the first few minutes of the Direct below), showing a hooded Link in an absolutely gorgeous world. The Legend of Zelda Wii U certainly is stunning, and it’s a title that Nintendo didn’t exactly reaffirm as a Wii U exclusive. For all we know we might be looking at the game running on the NX, but at the very least we know for sure that the Wii U will get a brand new Zelda title before it kicks the bucket.

The Legend of Zelda Wii U will have compatibility with Amiibo, include the announced Wolf Link Amiibo part of the Twilight Princess HD remaster. Nintendo didn’t specify exactly how they would work with the game however.

  1. I hope it’s really on track and comes out sooner rather than later.

As a HUGE Zelda fan I can honestly just say *EH* So over Nintendo. Hoping they bring some magic to their next platform or I am done with them.
