Resident Evil 6, which tried doing too many things at once, is a failure. The next game bearing the Resident Evil name, an up-scaled port of the 3Ds title Resident Evil: Revelations is a little closer to “classic” Resident Evil, which is exactly what fans have been asking for.
In it’s fiscal results, Capcom has said it expects the budget-priced HD port of the game to sell over 1.3 million copies by the end of March 2014. That’s not an especially high number, given that the game will be released at the end of this month on four different platforms; PS3, PC, Xbox 360 and even the Wii U.
There are a few factors that might make Revelations a hard sell though; the game failed to hit the million mark on its original platform, the 3DS. It’s also been less than a year since the release of Resident Evil 6, so people might still be tired of the franchise – and then of course there are those who might feel “burned” by resident Evil, and will steer clear of this game. HD ports of games, traditionally, don;t do exceptionally well at retail.
Still, 1.3 million units in a year is not exactly a very high expectation, and is decidedly reserved for a game bearing a name with the stature of Resident Evil. Do you think Capcom’s being too cautious, or is Revelations set to tank?

Mmm, if they expect so little in return, why the fuck not NOT release it, and invest the money into, you know, a REAL Resident Evil game?

Probably because with the game having been made already, doing the conversion and releasing it was relatively cheap. They probably also failed to make a return on investment with just the original 3DS version.

I get that, but what they are doing is saturating their own market surely? I mean, only the fanboys loved RE6 and after watching OVG TRY and play the demo I wanted to keelhaul myself with piano wire. Just think they need to radically GO BACK to actually see any future (see what I did there?)

RE is played out… too many movies and games = overkill…give the franchise a much needed rest and reboot later…How about another Gunsmoke or 1942? Heck even a Ghosts n Goblins revival…

Resident Evil 6 sold 4.6 million units and it’s still considered a failure? Maybe to the fans…
