GTA V may make it to PC and Wii U

Wee You? That don't sound American to me! Get 'em boys!

Rockstar makes great games. High end PCs can make great games look damn good. But seldom do the two ever meet. While GTA IV took forever to ship onto PC, the latest iteration of the sandbox crime does pay simulator doesn’t look like it’s headed for that platform. That’s not to say that Rockstar doesn’t want to publish their next game on that platform though, as they’re actually deeply considering doing so.

Speaking to IGN, Rockstar vice president Dan Houser explained how the developer was looking at that option, but how it lacked the necessary muscle to make it happen.  “Everything else is up for consideration, that’s all I can give you” Houser said.

The main thing is we are not…we are a third-party publisher. We’re not Nintendo, we’re not Sony, we’re not Microsoft. We love all of them in different ways. But we can do what we want wherever there’s the appropriate business opportunity and chance to find a market. If that’s on Apple we put something on Apple.

Wherever it might be. I think that’s the fun in what we do. We see ourselves as a content company that uses technology. We don’t make it; we use it to make the most fun stuff.

Meanwhile, it looks like Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime is interested in bringing the game to the Wii U platform, in an attempt to push forwards with grabbing third-party titles for the new console, and reclaim some fans in the process.

The folks there have said very nice public comments about the Wii U. Fils-Aime said to CVG. “In the end, it is Nintendo’s responsibility to have a large installed base, to have development tools that help the developers and publishers create great content, and essentially create an environment where teams like Rockstar can bring their very best content to our platform, and if we do that hopefully the very best content throughout the entire industry will show up on Wii U.

GTA V on the PC sounds like a pretty good idea to me, due to the fact that so many voices from that platform are practically begging for it. As for Wii U, I’d be happy with a version of the game that allows me to watch episodes of Republican Space Rangers on the tablet controller.
